Yes, Kristina. I got my 2 chickens in November after we set up our coop and free roaming area. One is a Cinnamon Queen (a cross betw a Wyandotte & New Hampshire)- her name is Ginger, and the other is a Partridge Rock & we named her Maryann. Ginger is laying daily, not Maryann yet. I love having chickens! I'll be happy to share our experience. Since we live in the same area we can also check out our set-ups for the chickens, if you'd like.
@MarilynB That would be great - we won't have ours in until March but I will contact you again around that time and maybe we can set something up. Thanks again!
hey guys and gals I'm also in Altadena, don't have chickens or a coop yet but am planning to have one soonish since we go through eggs like nothing. we eat about 20+ eggs a week so it becomes costly buying eggs.
im thinking of getting Easter Eggers but my g/f only likes white eggs.
Well, if you're interested in white eggs, look into leghorns. We just adopted two battery hens that were rescued, and they lay pretty consistently. They are learning to get used to living in a nice coop and having a large fenced area to free roam.
