SWEET, I currently have 2 healthy chicks and 2 with splayed legs of some sort. I am working with them to improve their ability but will definitely need a rooster and any extras you have to start my flock of these.ill let you know. i will most likely be roosters maybe one hen. im just keeping one rooster and six hens.
I've used a small band-aid with great success with the splayed leg chicks. But you probably already know that but just suggesting. Seems like I have had leg issues with my last few groups of chicks.SWEET, I currently have 2 healthy chicks and 2 with splayed legs of some sort. I have a splash roo that is set to head into the pot.......Thats great TravisE!!! I just hatched three of them out of the incubator. They are the cutest ever!
If you get to breeding them, I would be interested in getting some from you. Especially any splash colors and in particular a splash color rooster.
Good luck.
Yeah thanks for the suggestion though. I have one that is a runt and I helped it hatch and it is doing ok but whines and falls over a lot. The other one I have doesnt necessarily have splayed legs but more like a splayed hip joint or something. Her legs stay together but its like her hip isnt strong enough and it kinda flops out to the side. Just one of her hips do it and she never whines or fusses but I can tell she is frustrated with her own leg when she is standing. Its almost like she has a double joint or something. She walks backward better than forward. When I put the band aid on her to try and curb this problem it seemed to get worse, and her hip was constantly flopping out of place so I took the band aid brace off her and she seems to be learning how to cope with it. Anyone seen this type of deformity before?I've used a small band-aid with great success with the splayed leg chicks. But you probably already know that but just suggesting.
