Anyone in WV???

Wow! There are chicken folk in WV! I've had a hard time finding any near me. We moved to the Charleston area about 18 mo. ago. We're ready to start keeping chickens. I was going to order from MPC but if I can find chicks locally - I'd prefer it. We need hens only. I don't much care about the breed. I'd prefer to stay away from bantams. I'd like larger/standard birds. I looked on the chicks for sale page but I did not see any in WV. Please feel free to message me if you have chicks now or will soon. Thank you! Glad to have found the WV section

Welcome. I am in Charleston several times a year attending meetings.

For hens or pullets pm Tuffoldhen. She is two hours from you give or take. Great big birds with personalities like little sweethearts.

I live in Cross Lanes! I wish you had posted on here two weeks ago, I just sold 17 Buckeye chicks. I have more due to hatch this weekend, but they take several weeks to sex as they are pea comb and roo's aren't easy to pick out as quick as some other breeds.

I just sent for a large 'self feeder' for the chickens. It should be really nice. I hope my husband doesn't ask how much I spent for it. My chicken hobby is getting expensive.

It is a Grandpa's Feeders. I'll let you know how well it works.

Next year I am going to start raising my own breed of 'FaerieSpuns', which will be a sex link. So if you need some more next year check with me.

Interesting! We've got a woman in Ona who is selling us 7 chicks. We'll pick them up on Wednesday morning. They're about 2 wks old and have been free ranging w/ their mama. I'm a little nervous but I think we're ready to jump in. We'll keep them inside until we get a tractor up and ready for them. Ha! Hubby will be so surprised to find out that his 4 wks to get the tractor ready is now down to about 2 wks.
Wish us luck! I'm sure I'll be around here a lot for a while!

We're in Huntington and are starting a couple lines of Blue Laced Red Wyandottes and Blue Wyandottes. We'll be offering hatching eggs and possibly chicks next year. We purchased some very good lines of birds. Can hold off on the Wyandottes until next year? Check out the Milton Flea Market. Seems there's always someone selling birds.

Oh yeah, I can wait. Someone else suggested that I can also call the local feed stores in Feb. and request particular chicks to come with their spring chicks. I just really love the Wyandottes. So beautiful! Maybe note my username somewhere and contact me when you have chicks or eggs in the spring. :)
