Anyone know anything about staining concrete floors?

Is the slab already poured? If not, find a high quality concrete company which will jitterbug the concrete before putting the trowel on it. It drives all the aggregate below the surface and gives you a layer of pure cement, so that you end up with a very slick finish.I.E. the floors in Lowes or HD. You do not want the aggregate shining through, if you are going to stain.
The slab hasn't been poured yet. I'm trying to do a budget run and get the last bits of stuff figured out before heading to the architect with what we want. I'll definitely let the company know that we want to have it colored so they can prepare the concrete right.

I'm just afraid his colored concrete is going to be to expensive and then him decide he would rather have a different heating system instead of the radiant floor just cause he wants a nice looking floor. The heating system is only going to be around $5-$7K for us to install ourselves for the whole house.

Why not look into adding colour powder to the final screed mix and avoid the wear problem?

Thanks for telling me that. I didn't even know you could color the concrete during the making process.

My Dad and I are painters and my Dad has painted concrete floors several times to make them look nicer. Once was our garage floor and the other time I can think of off the top of my head is in his shop. And I know he has painted concrete other times but those were the ones i was present for.
Some things to keep in mind: $185 is way to steep,

as someone mentioned earlier it should def be under $50. And tho you can spray it... it is much less hassle to just brush and roll it... by that i mean you roll the color on the main part of the floor and cut in the edges using a brush. It will also help it to look more even if you do more than one coat. Doing at least 2 coats helps smooth it out and eliminate thin spots.

Hope this helps

I would like to have radiant in-floor heating installed in the slab but it is up to my husband to decide.

Here are some pictures of the look he is wanting. The first one he would probably want a little darker.
