The slab hasn't been poured yet. I'm trying to do a budget run and get the last bits of stuff figured out before heading to the architect with what we want. I'll definitely let the company know that we want to have it colored so they can prepare the concrete right. Is the slab already poured? If not, find a high quality concrete company which will jitterbug the concrete before putting the trowel on it. It drives all the aggregate below the surface and gives you a layer of pure cement, so that you end up with a very slick finish.I.E. the floors in Lowes or HD. You do not want the aggregate shining through, if you are going to stain.
I'm just afraid his colored concrete is going to be to expensive and then him decide he would rather have a different heating system instead of the radiant floor just cause he wants a nice looking floor. The heating system is only going to be around $5-$7K for us to install ourselves for the whole house.
Why not look into adding colour powder to the final screed mix and avoid the wear problem?
Thanks for telling me that. I didn't even know you could color the concrete during the making process.
