Anyone know what these are?

Finally found an adult louse last night...on my lap. :sick Hero was sitting there a few minutes prior and I had just put him to “bed” in the bathtub. It was unlike any louse we’ve had before, medium-dark brown and bigger than the straw lice. No idea what kind it is. Human lice are black, right? I hope?
If you see another one, get it into a small jar or stuck to a piece of transparent tape so you can get some pics.

Can you treat them at night after they've gone to roost? Then there's no chasing and catching and you can treat them all at once. That way they are not re-infesting each other, and no guessing about who's treated and who isn't. Get a little headlamp so your hands are free. Wal-Mart has some real cheap, bright LED ones for a dollar or two, you can get several easily. Good luck!

I can feel things crawling on my head now... so gross! I hope my chickens NEVER have mites or lice because things rarely gross me out, but this does! Hopefully you can get him better!

Fortunately, lice are extremely species specific. Bird lice literally don't have the mouth-parts to deal with getting through human skin to get at your blood. They can crawl all over you, but they'll starve to death. The others have good ideas about treating at roosting time. Also, you might spray down any litter in the coop with them in addition to the birds.
