Not really. I'm just giving my opinion. I sprained my ankle stepping into a hole one dug in my younger years.

SSS Method for these guys

looks like a Nutria to me. (if you're near water of some kind)

They don't get to live here either. We have horses, and the cost of a broken leg to my horses isn't worth letting the ground hog stay. Not fun getting the lawnmower tire stuck in one of their holes either. And they have at least two if not more exits to their tunnels. SO if you find one hole, with lots of dirt flung to one side of it, chances are you have more holes, so be careful!

They won't hurt the chickens to my knowledge, though they may dig into your runs and try to eat their feed.

WOW! Are you near water? Looks like a Nutria! Does it kinda look like a big rat? They are from South America. We are dealing with giant population explosion of them they are eating our marsh and swamps bare. Brought here many, many years ago. We have open season on them. They are also good for fur. Sorry to see that. May have come up the Mississippi river on a boat or something.

That would most likely be a groundhog....or as they are known around my homestead....CHEW TOY...

My GSD's absolutely love them....

Oh I hate them myself as I sprained my ankle last year by steppign in one of thier tunnels.....

After that they became fair game for the dogs.

My father was an avid horseman, and always said horses and chucks don't mix good in a pasture. When I was a kid,and liked to hunt them he'd make me carry a small shovel to fill the hole afterwards. And this was on other peoples property too. Will
