Anyone like my coop? Think repairs are needed?

Hardware cloth is often called "rat wire" in some parts of the country. The openings can range from 3/16" to over 1/2" and the gauge is most often 18 to 20 gauge I think. At any rate it is far more secure and stronger than chicken wire.

x2. Excellent advice. Any number of critters can scale that fence around your run and rip that chicken wire off the windows. Chicken wire is meant to keep chickens IN, not predators out. Words to live by (I know we do!).

Cute coop!

Well, sorry to argue, but that chicken wire is all we have, and the girls love to look out the windows, and they have been tested. Nothing can break it. The two little girls loooooooove our coop.
We've had the coop for two years. Our girls absolutly love our coop.
thanks for the words!

Are you asking for advice or just wanting people to tell you how cute it is?

Bingo. ^ Change out the chicken wire for hardware cloth, give it a fresh paint job, and you're in business. Functional and cute.

Beers y'all,

I lost two chickens one night by a raccoon or family of them that pulled them through the wire piece by piece. I'm getting hardware cloth this weekend for the new coop. Do NOT count on your chickens to move out of the way of a strange furry arm poking in through the wire. The wire was bulged where they'd been pulled through but otherwise was intact and didn't come undone from the posts.

When you have to go pick guts, feathers and intestines from chicken wire, it kinda leaves a mark. Get some hardware cloth
