Anyone living off the land?

Nearly all modern ink on newspapers (NOT magazines) is soy. I happen to know for sure my local papers use soy ink because it's printed right on the front page. I don't worry about the soy and my plants, but that's my opinion. That concern would also carry over to printed cardboard, as it would have soy based ink as well. Unless it's coated with slick paper, then the chemicals in those inks are far worse. I guess if you really want to control the weeds and be as chemical free as possible, there's no short cut-just the hard work of pulling weeds daily!
I worked for Denver Parks And Recreation when I still lived in Denver and we planted thousands of annuals every year-yes thousands and that was just our division base. We weeded about once a week and they really didn't grow more than that. I am going to check my next newspaper and see if its soy too-just because I am curious. Where would it say on the front page?

It's on the bottom of the front page-small letters-right next to the editor's contact info. Is your local paper owned by Gannett? I believe all of their US newspapers are printed with soy based ink

Thank you and I have your dream too!!! The prices anywhere seem to be super pricey and usually they don't sell just one acre-they usually sell them in 20 acre+ bulk and those are PRICEY! unless of course the land is barren and not worth a hoot-like where I live now.

keep dreaming and working towards it!! In the meantime talk with us about our battles to do what we can with what we got at the moment!

Any of those boys going to end up on Thanksgiving table this year?

Speaking of trades-I started a thread in the gardening section for seed swaps if anyone is interested, someone gave me the idea and I thought it was a great idea!!

Okay I went to store and purchased more seeds because mine were nowhere to be found when I needed them! I know I had better ones than what I got today but here is what I got:

Heirloom green beans
heirloom beets
heirloom sunflowers
heirloom romaine lettuce
heirloom bell pepper
and I think I got something else but I cant remember right now.

After work tomorrow I will decide which I will plant in the raised bed and which I will plant in a large pot. Any suggestions?
