Anyone making Homemade Christmas Gifts?

Im making baskets containing home made items. The items im making right now for them are Egg ornaments, crocheted coaster sets, dishcloths, pot holders, and hand towels, lotion, canned items- jams, jellies, relish, salsa etc, no bake cookies. I also am making jewelry organizers out of wooden coat hangers for gifts. I am looking for more new ideas.

Just curious. The heated rice is very clever, but is there something that can be used as a cold pack? I know that in a pinch, frozen veggies work great - but that would just be nasty as a long term thing (freeze, thaw, freeze, thaw.....)

Bleenie - those are SOO cute!!! I think the velcro closure looks nice.

Bama1 - so sorry about the wreck. Glad that your daughter wasn't' hurt.
I make rice bags too- just put the rice bags in the freezer. It works great and can be heated up in a snap.

I am crocheting washclothes for everyone, and, if i have enough, giving everyone a dozen eggs. :)

My sister and her husband both have chronic pain issues. A set of hot and cold packs in various sizes will be a great gift. Thank you!

Yep, I read online that you can just put the rice packs in the freezer too(so maybe make them with 2 rice bags for each "sleeve"?) For the freezer the Muslin might not be the best idea but you could always just put it in a baggy so it doesn't get moist.

jenlyn, the coat hanger idea is great! my grandmother has have one with ribbons on it for her earrings since as far back as i can remember. much easier than digging out pairs from the jewelry box!

All the treats sound mouthwatering! being sick over thanksgiving i didn't eat much, especially sweets. can't wait for all the christmas goodies. we make fudge every year and loads of cookies.

My sister wants me to crochet my niece dang near an entire kitchen of fruits/veggies. I am going to try to work on it but she may be getting the bigger part of it for her birthday in March.

Slowly but surely....
Got these ones done today. I had a hard time finding a good solid to match this print and when i started this earlier today i was kicking myself for not buying a thread to match. Thankfully i dug out a blue thread that is almost a perfect match to the blue in the print! it'll work well on the next fabric too.

I realized last night that i only bought fabric for the girls... Nothing for the boys! I think i might have something around here but if not Joann's had some nice plaid flannel-type stuff on sale.

I normally give everyone in my family homemade goat milk soap, I make 20 different fudges, sugar cookies decorated, and I do cookies and brownies in a jar and give everyone. I am the only one in the family that bakes to extreme, and nobody makes fudge except me. I send trays of cookies and candies to friends, all my neighbors, my grandson's bus driver and the mailman. Christmas is my favorite holiday, so I tend to go overboard in the giving department.

i found directions on about.com to make soap dispensers out of canning jars and jelly jars and liquid soap to put in them so I'm trying my hand at that today.

I'm making ornaments this year, but have been stocking up on towels and pot holders, need some more so will hit the after christmas sale/clearance racks for more. I will sew them together and give as gifts next year.

Using the rice bag idea...well sorta...I took and cut out heart shapes for the girls and snowballs for the boys out of fleece and filled with rice. Put a note on them not to heat more then 30 seconds in the microwave. They are pocket warmers for those cold mornings at the bus stop or outside doing the chores.

For my DIL I took kitchen towels and pot holders and cut owl shapes out of material and pieced them on the towels and pot holders. Just did a really tight zig zag on the sewing machine. She loves owls so on the oven mit I painted "I love owls"
