That makes a lot of sense.

I love this explanation.

So do I. I had such a sense of Aha! That makes sense when I read about this. It also answers part of the question of what happens after we die. While it is perfectly possible that we simply die and that is that, this explanation - to me - seems like it makes sense that we would return to join that unconscious. Whether we get to come back here again or not is another discussion, but if we are all connected to each other and the universe returning to our source makes sense.

Look up the symphonies of science web site and watch both "We are all connected" and the "Pale Blue Dot." I'll post it when I can.....

I have WHAT in my yard? :

Here they are:

This has several very good videos. We are all connected speaks to what we have ben saying, but my daughters love Glorious Dawn.

There are many versions of this, but this one is my favorite.

Way cool websites!! I was thinking that I need to watch some of Carl Sagan's Cosmos episodes. I often think of how "insignificant" (so to speak) each one of is, individually. There is so much more than just me. Like the man said, I am but a "pale blue dot". Sometimes I wonder why am I trying so hard to save energy or conserve gas to do my part in saving the planet when I am just one person? One molecule doesn't make a planet, but all those molecules together make our our planet. So in reality I am just one little molecule and along with all my other little molecular friends we can make a difference!

yea i feel ya i mean im not religious i take thing from religion that i like & incorporate them into my life but i dont do rituals i pray & luv god but i dont do church or tell ppl they wil burn lol

I was curious, have any of you heard any interesting or strange arguments for the existence of God and the nonreligious responses?

One of the oddest that I heard was Ray Comfort's banana argument. The banana that we buy in the store, as you probably know, was created with human intervention. Originally, bananas were filled with seeds. Domestication under humans has resulted in bananas that are easy to eat.

Comfort claimed that because bananas are perfectly formed for human hands, with an easy open tab, that there must be a divine creator.

Strangely enough, he did not bring up the coconut, which is not easy to open but taste yummy. I think that chickens taste good but there is no easy open tab on my poultry.

One that's been bugging me a lot here lately is when people tell me god has blessed me this year with my garden

It is by his hand that it is doing so well, I'm being watched over in my time of need.

What the heck?
I've worked my arse off all flipping winter to get the beds built, dig up compost and fill them. I water it everyday. I spent chick money to buy most of the seed/plants/trees/etc. I tend it. I don't see anyone else out there in the sun when the doc says not to be, yanking the hose around trying to water things when the weather doesn't cooperate.
I'm out there pinching off all the extra peaches to save my trees and produce a better yield. I'm the one trimming them out so that they grow properly. I'm the one tending the hundreds of volunteer peach trees so I can add to my bounty later on or sell started trees if needed.
No one thinned out my radishes so I had to pull up the bolted ones today and feed to the chickens.
I scoured the stores 60 miles away and found more fruit trees for a decent price and planted them.

MY hard work being attributed to a god of some sort. That I will never miss, the idea that if it goes good for you god has a hand in it and he/she/it gets the glory. Sorry, I work for it, I earn it, it's MINE.

This used to drive me up the wall. At one point we attended a church that stressed giving the tithe. The reasoning was that our money was not our own but belonged to God because he made certain that we were healthy enough to be able to work in the first place. Therefore, we owed him 10% of our income because it was all his anyway.

If you garden hadn't grown, some religious people blame would blame your bad luck on your personal sin or a malevolent evil being.

I feel like a very spiritual person and I don't want organized religion in my life. I read a very good book called 'A New Earth' by Eckart Tolle. I always try to live for now. Live and let live
