Anyone non-religious here? Please be nice!

As soon as someone finds out they don't believe in an organized religion they make it their goal to "convert and convince" them that they are wrong and if they would only do........ whatever they would be sure and see that.

I have gotten this treatment more times than I can count. I have had to get angry and tell people off just to be left alone. A polite "no thanks" never seems to be enough.

redhen- no problem. I don't hold grudges and I am sure I do my share as well.

I love to hear every one's views of how they feel about religions that look for converts. As a former ordained minister of JWs I always really wondered what others thought of us. Really seeking converts. I am now of the mind that if you need religion to feel whole then that is all well and good but it should never be forced. My oldest DD is studying to be a LDS. My view is, if it makes her a better person I am all for it.

I think it might be best if we stick with discussing what we believe and not what we think of other people's beliefs. That will lead us to trouble, and fast.

I respect people like you. People who recognize that there are people who hold their religion dear, yet do not bash them for it. Likewise I do not force my religion or beliefs on those who don't, or even those on the brink because that can do more damage than good. I prefer to live by example (which is not always the best example).

I respect people like you- people who live their religions because they deeply believe in it.
