My brother works on the offshore oil rigs in Louisiana. In fact he's doing his 2 week stint right now. We had a crab boil for my daughters graduation and yes we had crab, mudbugs (crawfish), shrimp, kielbasa, boudan, corn and potatos. It was hot and spicey and it was wonderful! (we also included a little libation) and we'll be doing it again this year with my sons graduation. I do think you forgot one thing though your state bird is the mosquito, its worse there than in Ga.
I have to agree that I wish that I could talk "real cajun french" also. I love to hear it. I have family members that grew up farther south than I did and I love to hear them speak.
Yep he lives about a mile from me but its pretty much a family type of job. My brother inlaw has worked on them for the last 30 years, his brother, nephew and uncle, my brother. My son will do a summer stint this coming year. It is a long drive, I think it takes 8 hours.
They can get fresh seafood right off the boats in South La. hubby never wants to stop after just getting off a rig. He says he cant wait to get home. But I want the seafood
. Love Shrimp! (not to mention it is cheaper right off the boat, plus so fresh)
Pair up that fresh seafood with some real Louisiana spices and you've got it made! I hope to get back to New Orleans next summer, the food is just amazing.
