I ended up with a gray Indian runner drake from a batch of mixed ducklings from Holderreads back in 2009. He is a gorgeous boy and has had beautiful ducklings with my gray hen. As much as I really enjoy him, he doesn't fit into my breeding scheme. I've not seen any dusky runners advertised so I have no dusky hens for him. I'm in the situation where I sell him or obtain some girls and breed for dusky. So, is there anyone who is breeding these ducks?

She would love that. If only I trusted in the shipping. Maybe we can say he is a "seeing eye duck" and take him on a plane.

That just might work, I have a service goose, he lets me know when someone is at my house and he also lets me know when the phone rings. The only problem is I don't have a hearing problem.

he also hollers when I sneeze or cough, so a seeing eye duck just might work. Be sure to put a collar on him to identify that he is one...

Blue would be grateful LOL
Have no idea of how the genetics would work, but he's a beautiful boy.

Somebody on another board has some ducks, including a f&w runner drake. He's molting and she posted a pic. I don't think Blue would be picky, even in his bedraggled state, she'd be happy to have a boy around.
Maybe I'll be able to convince DH to let me order my black drake from Metzer's this summer or sometime this spring. He thinks it's funny the way she acts now. The other 2 are just their normal self. Blue - well, isn't LOL

He thanks you for the complements! If not a good home, a couple of nice dusky hens would be nice for him. I just haven't a clue on anyone raising them in my area.

I know this thread is a bit old and not sure if you are monitoring it anymore but I would suggest that you email Holderreads and get on the waitlist for a dusky female for this fall. I know that I was able to get a dusky drake this month from them but not sure if they will have anymore this fall but it's worth a try. I don't know a whole lot about the dusky gene but maybe you could also find a recommended color to cross with him to try and get at least some dusky offspring to keep with him. Good luck! He is a nice looking runner.
