You are truly one of my favorite people. I get so upset at times.. it seems overwhelming.
I have been staying away from here and forcing myself to exercise and go do something besides think. I used to enjoy so much, and now I have to force myself to do anything. You are right, we are good people.
We need to treat ourselves the way we deserve to be treated. and being healthy is step one.

HI,

I am a new comer to this thread ~~ please call me Renie.

I got a wake up call to my health condition a few weeks ago. I have a family history of cancer. Soo I told God... I would do better if he gave me a second chance. Long story short... after a battery of tests.. I have a fatty liver and the on set of type 2 diabetes. Sugar running 120 after fasting overnight.
I have taken it upon myself.... to change my life.. I don't like the term diet.. because it is soo temporary... I have lost as much as 81lbs in 3 months only to gain it all back and more using diets.

The first thing I decided to do different was to NOT starve myself... No sir.. I feel there is no shame in having something to eat when I am truely hungry... Just make smarter choices about what I eat. I have cut out all processed sugar and sodas. Eating a lot of green veggies and I have added more fish to my dinners. I use about a tablespoon of olive oil a day... no more butter. I could go on but don't want to bore anyone... Cutting to the chase... I am 51 yrs old as of tomorrow, 5'5" and weighed 272lbs on 1-28-11 I now weigh 242lb.. down 30lbs

WITHOUT starving.

I would like to get down to 170. Sounds like a lot.. but when I was younger .. you could count my ribs when I weighed 135lbs. I don't want to wrinkle all up... lol soo 170 I should be comfortable providing my sugar can handle it.

Welcome! Sounds like you're making good choices. Glad you've joined us. Congrats on the loss so far.

Tomorrow is weigh-in day. Here's the spreadsheet where we're tracking. As you can see, I stink. I haven't weighed in for a couple of weeks. Tomorrow, I plan to weigh in as soon as I get up. I've even asked DH to help remind me.

Again, welcome!

I really like Fitday. It allows me to track food, and exercise, and has a good database. You can set goals for yourself for min and max of macronutrients (protein, carbs, fat) and other micronutrients (max sodium or whatever.) It's been around for a decade, so it's pretty established.

I just want to say how proud I am of everyone on here for keeping up with this. It's not been an easy week for many.

Ya'll are awesome and inspiring and I really admire your stick-to-itiveness (that's Edisonish for perseverance).

Maybe we could all get a group gym membership since there is so many of us in the group now?! I would call planet fitness or something, but they would laugh at me.
"Excuse me, we have an online group of 30+ people and would like a group discount."

"...will everyone be using this location?"

"...Why NO! We need a list of all your locations including Ireland, Austraila and Canada!"

".... NEXT!"

Pleased to meet you!! We really aren't dieting, unless Margaritas and creme cakes have made it on Weight Watchers food list.

We're all about making better choices, getting fit and making it a life long
committment. Weighing in helps me to at least be conscious of the choices I make. It's a plus to lose weight.

Okay, I'm 168.2 this morning. I think I've reached a plateau. I've been here for too long!! The weather has been lousy and when I'm stuck in the house I tend to visit the fridge more. I'm hoping for some
sunshine this coming week.
