Though I lost the weight in a manner, I didn't want to/plan on,

I've lost 8 lbs in the last 3 weeks since DH died. I was not eating, then began eating 1 meal a day. I'm at 2 now.

this is a bad week... my brother passed away monday.. we knew it was coming but couldn't help him..he has been an alcoholic for years and his liver wasn't doing well.. he was 52. i haven't seen him since the family reunion 6 yrs ago.. i live in ny and he is in calif. with losing my dad in january and now him it makes you realize we are that generation when it is time to start losing people in your life. my mom is retired and in arkansas of all places.. since we come from calif then transferred to ny. since dad passed she isn't doing great. and is alone down there. you would think she would want to be with family. but she has her friends and church and they have been there 22 yrs now. in jan after dad passed she had a blockage in her intestines and was in the hospital for over a month. then rehab for a few weeks. she is now walking again but is 79. and tiny. i just found out from a friend of hers that she had a bad sinus infection and wasn't eating and got weak and dizzy and fell.. she was on the floor for 5 hours before someone came over when she didn't answer her phone. ugh.. i have tried and tried to get her here to live with us but she is fighting it all the way. she wants to stay there.. says she isn't ready for assisted living. i told her since my brother has passed and his home is paid for and empty maybe she would like to go home to calif and live my brother and cousins are there. but oh no she won't budge. we have tried and tried to get her to see it is time.. she has kidneys that aren't functioning 100% and now she has something going on with her vision and they are giving her steroids to help which makes her sugar go sky high, so a nurse had to show her how to do insulin shots.. arrrggggggg she is making me crazy!!!! she came out here last summer for a month and we had a great time. but she says all her friends said when they moved in with their kids, the kids eneded up hating them???? what the heck. she is my mom and i want her here.. we are extremely close even though miles apart..and we designed this house for handicap. large doors.. seats in showers ect.. she seems to think she is fine.. she drives even though she has blurred vision. do i just let her finish her time out there alone with her friends. she has 6 kids all over the place so it was hard to get down to her when she was in the hospital for so long.. no one could stay for long. sorry for the venting..and next week is my birthday and i am going to pig out on cake.. think my next weigh in will be 300 lbs...

Sorry that you are so lost without him. Do get some good nutrition in you. Make it count when you do eat.

wildorchid Sorry you've been dealing with so much lately. Just remember that there really is very little that we CAN control in our lives, food being one of them. You've been doing incredibly well. Have a slice of cake, just not the whole thing!! When the party is over, the problems are still there. Don't add more frustration and disappointment to it. I admire your mom really. She is doing what she feels is the most loving thing for her children. It's something that she apparently wants to do for YOU. There aren't very many people anymore that want to step up and care for their elderly parents. Having your offer means the world to her I'm sure.
