i am so proud of all of us. we must all use food because we love it.. it is nice to see everyone trying to break that habit. it is a hard habit to break that is for sure. I just want to say thank you to all who have supported us and congratulations on those who have not gained it "all" back. it is hard when birthdays come, or out to dinner, hubby bakes yummies but as long as your losing more than gaining you're in the right direction. even if you maintain your weight that is good. I noticed that not all have weighed in. it might be time to give each one missing a little email hug and bring them back like you did me.. i so thought that was wonderful. anyways just wanted to say good luck for next week and if you have hit your goal like vfem almost has, keep letting us know how your doing. way to go peeps and your a wonderful group of losers? i meant that in a good way.. gooo peeps

Thanks for that. It is good to have the encouragement. I have felt such a tortoiuse in all this having still only lost 2lbs!!!!!! I am soooo trying to put aside all the "nice" stuff to eat but last night DH made a lovely chinese kind of dinner with Duck and all sorts and today we have DDs 22nd Birthday so it will be more of the same "nice" fatty things and of course B'day cakes etc.

I want to lose so much weight and had so wanted to get more lbs off before I went away. I really do want to be down to 9 stone something, anything really - I just want so much to see that 9 on the scales again!!!!

I am pleased that I lost 2lbs but I don;t feel much thinner and it doesn;t "show" that much just yet. I am not giving up though.

Oesdog, you're doing great. Don't view it as a short term thing. Losing a pound a week is a very healthy way to do it. Focus on making healthy changes to your habits and that'll last a lot longer than any short-term diet.

When I take the dogs to the vet I always stare at the big rubber blob of fat sitting on the counter in the exam room. Of course, it's meant to show dog owners what 2 lbs. of fat looks like on your dog.
Nevertheless, when I think about losing a pound or two I picture that blob and it motivates me to skip the ice cream at night. I knew someone who took a photo of themself nude at their heaviest weight
so that each time they were tempted to eat an unhealthy snack they could get a quick reminder as to why they were doing what they were doing. (I won't be doing THAT!) But I am a visual person so
having something sitting there to remind me would be useful.

What do YOU do to help remind you?

I have an app on my phone to remind me to go do something - a walk or a bikeride or something. The eating, I'm pretty good with, by having built the habit over time, a little at a time. Like, drink a glass of water before taking seconds of anything, to see if I'm still hungry. Or, use a smaller plate for the food. I used to measure or weigh everything before I served it so I knew how much I was eating. I had no idea what a portion size *looked* like. I eventually learned over time most things.

I still weigh or measure anything unfamiliar. I put whatever snack or treat I'm having in a pretty plate or bowl, and PUT THE PACKAGE AWAY before I eat any of it and then go sit down to eat it. It makes it something I savor more, and prettily presented, it satisfies the aesthetic part, like it would in a restaurant. And it triggers that "this is how much there is and there ain't no more" mechanism, by not having a whole bag of it sitting right there calling to me.

That is good to think on.
I remember thinking about the 5lb bags of spuds we get here and working out how many of them I was carrying around with me ALL day long. I mean if 14lb is in a stone basically your carrying 3 bags of 5lb spuds around for every stone over weight you are. I also try to think on the bars of butter we have here they weigh 2lb or the bags of sugar 2lb.

I guess its easy to think a 1lb isn;t much but in those terms you get to see visually what we are really losing!!!!!

I feel better for that even with my little 2lb weight loss!!!

Oesdog - will try harder!!!!!!
