I'm in! Last year I lost 30 pounds and would like to lose another 25-30pounds. I'm 5'4" and weigh 174 lbs. Several years ago, when I was in the best shape I have ever been in, both my husband and I did a Body for Life. The eating plan was easy, and very sensible. It really helped with portion control. And that really is what loosing weight is all about, portion control and exercise. 6 days a week, you ate healthy foods. 3 meals and 3 snacks. For your 3 meals, you would have a serving of protein, a serving of carbohydrate and a fruit for breakfast or vegetable for lunch and dinner. For your snacks you had a serving of protein and a serving of vegetables. A serving size of protein can be measured by the size of the palm of your hand (which allows larger people to have bigger serving sizes) or the size of a deck of cards. A serving of cheese is the size of a domino. A carbohydrate serving is the size of your fist. 1 slice of regular bread or 1 tortilla is 1 serving of carbohydrate. If you use the reduced calorie bread, then you can have 2 slices for 1 serving. The 7th day is your free day. You can eat whatever you want. We usually did this on Saturday. This worked really well for us. I lost 25-30 pounds and my husband lost about 75 pounds doing this. Exercise is a big part of it also. The main thing they taught about exercise is to do interval training. You can do interval training with just about any exercise that you are doing. Walk for 5 minutes and then speed your walking up for 1-2 minutes, and then go back to your normal pace for 3-4 minutes, then increase your speed for 1-2 minutes, then go back to your normal pace for 3-4 minutes. By adjusting your speed it keeps your body guessing as to what comes next and you will burn more calories then if you walked the same speed the entire time. You can also burn more calories in less time by doing intervals than a steady pace for longer time.
I'm excited to get back to exercising and eating better and loosing the rest of my weight. I am in the process of weaning myself of of Diet Coke. So, I am going to get off of Diet Coke, start eating better foods and exercising. I bought the Zumba DVD's and haven't opened them up yet. I will use them this week. Thanks for starting this!!!
