Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

What EB said, AND...I know this sounds counter-productive, but you might not be eating ENOUGH...you need to add in a couple of small healthy snacks in there somewhere. That's one thing that I learned from weight watchers, if I don't eat enough, I don't lose either...
And, the day you ate nothing, your metabolism went down the toilet, so your body hold onto EVERYTHING you eat for a bit after that. The key is to stick with it!! Don't give up now, you've come so far!!!!!!!

Thanks but that is the point - I haven;t actually come anywhere!!!!!! I lost 2 lbs that took me weeks to achieve and then I put it all back on!

If I write down everything I eat perhaps you guys can help me a bit because I am falling so far behind now and feel so well down about it really.

Today so far I have eaten
Drank a coffee at about 7 am
9 am - Another coffee and a thin slice of toast with Butter and a jam for breakfast.
11 am - Coffee and a plain digestive
1pm - Coffee, slice of thin toast with butter and an egg on top.

- Yeah I see NO water and too much coffee ??????

I just need this support or I feel I will just go stuff myself with Cheesey Chips!!!!!! NO NO NO!!!!!!!! I can;t think that way.

Oesdog - HELP HELP HELP - Keep me strong cause I am sooo disapointed with myself right now.

Well fellows and gals I have not moved on the wt.
I am staying the same. but I had read that if eating Carbs,
it should be done
before 12 noon. and so I have my slice of rye bread ( maybe my downfall )
with a teasp. of peanut butter and hot tea.at breakfast.
cant change that habit no matter how I try.

Sure you have - it's the efforts you are putting out that you need to focus on and APPLAUD yourself on!

Ok, what I see by what you've eaten today, like you said, lots of coffee and no water...caffeine dehydrates, so for every cup of coffee you drink, you need to drink twice as much plain water BEFORE the cup of coffee.

Also, there's lots of carbs and very little else with 2 pieces of toast and 1 egg. Have the egg for breakfast with some yogurt and maybe some berries, skip the toast with butter. If you feel like you need bread (I know I do) opt for a different option - I don't know if it's available in Ireland, but here we have Thomas' Light Multrigrain english muffins - they are PHENOMENAL (I'm NOT an english muffin fan) and SO much better for you than regular bread! Also, Orowheat puts out a product called "sandwich thins" that are fantastic. Look around in the bread section at the store, read some labels. Find something that is less than 100 calories per serving, and has AT LEAST 3-5 grams of fiber per serving.
The lunch you listed on your previous post is great - salad with fish...you didn't mention dressing? If you do dressing, dip your fork with each bite, it's amazing how much less dressing you will use..
For dinners, fill half your plate with veggies, fresh or lightly steamed, and on the other half you have a lean meat and maybe a 1/2 baked potato with salsa on it. Don't let any of your foods touch. If you have islands of food, rather than a land mass, your plate still looks "full" and is visually appealing, but actually is holding alot less food. Don't forget to put a healthy snack in between each meal to keep your metabolism up and running! I know it seems counterproductive to eat MORE, but really it's not. My husband has this problem. He tries to lose weight by eating less, and he doesn't get it when I tell him to eat MORE, but it doesn't help because he isn't changing WHAT he eats, and then he only eats ONCE a day and doesn't understand why he doesn't lose weight.

And keep writing it down. Eventually you will look at what you're about to eat, and decide that it's not worth having to write down. BUT the worst thing you can do is beat yourself up if you slip up. Just know that it's a "slip up" not a "failure" and get back on track the next day. You ARE doing great!

Up one more pound, I blame the buffet and the Tres Leches. Dang birthdays anyway.

Oesdog, just keep in mind that you are making healthy changes, and those will add up. Your diet while you were away sounds very good, lots of fresh veggies and lean protein. It will catch up, I'm sure of it.

Wildorchid, congrats on the steady downward progress. It looks like you are doing all the right things.

Sometimes genetics plays some mean tricks on us size wise, being so little or so big. My mother can eat me under the table. She is 5'11', weighs 110 pound (she had a more normal weight when younger) has legs up to her armpits, and is fine boned. She wears a size 6 pant, extra long (I think), and her shoe size is 7 and ring size about a four. Me, I'm shorter, but not by much and I out weigh her by 100 pounds; but even when thin, my feet are size ten, my ring finger is a size nine and I have short legs. Even thin, most people would describe me a "sturdy". Not a good lovely adjective for a girl! We'd both look better if we split my excess weight.

EB, I know here in the states they have special shops for petite women, surely they have the same in Australia. Getting clothes that are proportioned for an adult will feel better than the kids clothes. They might be more expensive, but might also be worth if. Another thing I've realized is that if something is almost right, and a decent item, tailoring makes sense. An up charge of $10 for an item to fit perfectly and make you look great is worth it. Good luck.

Thanks for this though My DH bakes ALL our bread so I don;t have a choice unless I want a divorce! Did I mention he is a fab baker!
Yeah hard to tell him sorry DH but I don;t want that bread you just made!!!!

As for dressing on salad I didn;t take any at all while away. Though some of the fish had a sauce already on it. - Oh yeah I didn;t actually volunterily NOT eat that one day I got food poisoning from shell fish ( Other guests did to !) It put me off a bit and I was scared to eat the next day.

I am trying very hard - am really hungry today and am exhausted again. I feel so upset because DH and I have only been home for 2 days yet we are as tired as we were before we left. Danny has not slept all night and only a few hours the night before. I think that makes me want to eat cause I am so tired and probably why I survive on coffee too!!!!!

Oesdog - MUST TRY HARDER!!!!!!

I can so understand the size stuff. I am a very tiny woman only 5 foot on tip toe!!! Though I was the tallest woman in my family. My mother was 4.11 and my sister 4.8
When I was very thin I could easily buy kids clothes. But the down side to being tiny is that every lb shows sooooooo much!!!!!! My sister has size 3 feet - so she does get kids shoes all the time. Adult shoes rarely come that small here. I am size 5 so a bit bigger. I had so much bother being small as folk thought I was a child well into my adult life. I remember being in church and some old ladies had gone to the minister and said -" isn;t it sad that bloke at the front comes to church every week with his 5 children and his WIFE NEVER COMES!!!!!!!! - Once at the airport when I was taking my DD who was about 4 over to the mainland - they looked at DH and said " oh your putting your little girls on the plane just go on into the departure lounge and wait with them!!!!" ( Of course security wouldn;t let that happen these days) But you get my drift - it took a long time for me to actually be seen to be an adult and I was very glad when I started to get real wrinkles and my hair started to grey! I just wanted to be a woman!!!!! I would get so depressed - now of course I just want the weight down again!!! Cause I look like a beach ball with wee feet sticking out the bottom!!!!

Have not posted in a little while but....

Breakfast:Coffee,water,bowl of oatmeal and fruit

Lunch:Making salad along with grilled chicken

Dinner:Leftover chicken with lots of veggies and milk

Make sure to not eat to little as it will lower your metabolism and make it harder to lose calories!Im 15,5'10 and still growing so im trying to get at least 2000 calories on the weekends and even more during week days becouse I exercise and im still losing plenty of weight and gaining muscle.

oesdog, also remember on your vacation you walked a lot... if you are doing exercises now, you are probably gaining weight in 'muscle'. So think of some of those lbs back as probably being from being extra active, your body is backing on some 'hot woman' muscles!!

one thing i have found is i always cook a meat and a starch and a veggie... but now i mostly cook a meat and a veggie and another veggie. sometimes roasted different veggies and maybe green beans. or a corn casserole and a side of asparagus. it isn't so bad once you get away from the carbs.. but i have to tell you all.. valentines is coming and i plan on eating chocolates and not being good that day at all.. but it is ok i will just start back up the next day.. no guilt this time.. i have found that i am good all week and fridays my daughter and i go out for lunch.. it is a blow it totally. we might just eat chips and salsa with margaritas or a burger and a sundae at friendlys.. i think after eating so well all week my body needs that blow it day so i don't go into a starvation mode. and i know my mind does need it. we end up laughing and talking for hours till it is time to go home. i am sure once i get down to a much lower weight my body won't be so forgiving about a blow it day and i will have to be good contiually to lose the weight but for now it is working and that is what i will stick too
