Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

I have a problem with not stopping what I am doing when I am on a roll...and I do not eat, then the sugar crashes and I grab the cookies or crackers- and wheat isn't my friend- so I blow all that hard work working. As soon as I get hungry I shove anything into my mouth.

I made myself have breakfast today and I think that is why I forgot lunch. I am so awful.
Any suggestions? I need to make myself take a break, but when I am getting a lot done I just keep putting it off for a tad longer and then it is 5pm and I am woozy and exhausted and out comes the easy bad food.

I will have to peel those eggs I boiled and TAKE THEM WITH ME.

I want to make time to walk (and have some mental rest) I guess it is obsessive to want everything I want done- done now. I need to organize my brain and forget the barn.

ok i had my lean cuisine for lunch was starving .. no breakfast.. bad idea folks.. i had lunch and then went to dentist for cleaning at 4.. on the way home it was all i could do to pass up the local diner for burger and fries i was so starving.. so dashed home and had an apple and 2 squares of cheese.. yea me.. so now i can eat a decent dinner around 7 and be good.. it is funny what your willing to eat when your so hungry.. guess that says alot.. so i will not allow myself to get ravenous anymore..the one bad thing was my sugar got down to 100 which is great but i am not used to it so low and i got a headache.. live and learn.. doc said body will adjust to lower sugars that it will happen eventually.. now that my appetite is appeased i am having a big salad later for dinner with my fat free turkey and ham slices , a little cheese and veggies and of course a hard boiled egg.. see you all tomorrow for day 4. good luck all

I made a new recipe for cauliflower curry for my dinner. My eyes almost popped out because it was so spicy. But oh so good!!! My friend gave me a curry cookbook for Christmas, and I was going to make a black-eyed pea dish, but I didn't have a couple of things. So the peas are cooked and will be curry on Wednesday, when my CSA brings me spinach.

I got back on Sparkpeople, and logged my food. I'm doing good today.

I also took a 30 minute walk.

we eat anything curry.. it is our last name too.. try adding it to chicken salad, tuna salad,, deviled eggs, my favorite is chicken salad ....i know this sounds like a strange combo but it is wonderfully delish.
diced cooked chicken
red grapes
green onion diced
mayo to moisten
curry powder to taste
diced celery

enjoy. it seems curry goes great with spicey sweet things.. when i make lamb curry it is a hot dish over rice.. we serve along for the sides, banans slices, salted peanuts, mango chutney and coconut it is wonderful... some use diced egg, diced bacon, pickle relish,,, so be brave

Timers are your friend. Use a timer to remind you to do stuff and then *do it*. Do you have kids? We often tell ours - you don't gotta wanna, you just gotta do it anyways. So take a break when your timer goes off and go do whatever else you needed to do.

Great job everyone! Even those who didn't pass up their nemesis, thought about it and didn't just do it automatically. That's a good start.

wildorchid - you're doing awesome!

I, on the other hand, ... well I got my water in yesterday. And my eating was fine. But no exercise - well not unless you count bringing the groceries in! (Hey, they were heavy and there were several bags of them!)

So off to do better today. I want to:
a) do some workout
b) get plenty of water
c) get to bed at a reasonable time

What are your goals today?

I am going to have to join this group!

I am already looking forward to what is going in the garden in a few months here and thinking of making a pvc green house, of course this comes after finishing some fencing and building a run for the chicken coop......

We are trying to kick the processed foods as much as possible (teens/college students in the house)

Digging and garden work are both productive and good exercise

And biking reduces the ouch factor on the feet and knees.

Doing really well so far. Measuring everything is really helping my bloodsugars! I've had diabetes since I was nine and it's easy to get lax on measuring every portion, but I'm doing well so far. Yesterday I put shavings down in the coop since the sand method has frozen due to low temps. I had to carry the bag from our basement all the way out to our coop, and then lay down the bag of shavings after I took everything out of the coop. Good excercise.

Today I'm putting the decorations upstairs and doing some household projects. Feeling quite happy with myself for now!
