Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

Ya'll are so inspiring. Thanks for starting this thread, Nupine!

For myself - I unloaded and stacked a pallet of firewood (1/3 cord) twice. So that was my exercise for the month, er I mean week, I mean day

. Right now, I'm so tired... But it's a good tired.

I slipped up today on eating - in the middle of the firewood stacking, after one stack fell over, I decided to go pick up another log-holder. Well, on the way, I drove through In&Out. I only got one regular cheeseburger though and no fries or drink. But still - I just checked on the "nutrition" for one cheeseburger. OMG it's disgusting!

I had no idea it was so high. And their fat content is more than the freaking protein!

The worst part is that was supposed to be a "snack"!

I hate "learning experiences".

At least breakfast lunch and dinner were good. And I did get a lot of exercise. Good thing too! Ugh. Looks like back to fitday.com I go. Can't even trust myself to eat reasonable food. <sigh>

i understand your frustrations with such things. Its fast food, but you are trading any kind of healthy or nutrition for convenience. Booo...

I have not had McDonald's or Burgerking or KFC or Bojangles (I miss that one so much!) since January of last year. I found myself reading "The Omnivore's Dilemmia" and decided I was done with fast food, I blame them for blight of the agricultural issues. If we were demanding everything so fast and so cheap, I think our food would be more fairly priced for the healthy stuff.

Anyways, I have found good substitues for fast food... I have no problems with Subway, I get my 6" Chicken Teriaki sub on wheat every week and with sauce, (no cheese) its under 400 calories. I also make homemade potato fries, toss in a bag of olive oil with rosemary a pinch of sea salt and bake... for less then 200 calories a serving it goes nicely with a oven baked chicken breast for dinner.

I am happy to share, but since September I have been coming up with low calorie and low fat recipes to try to make this all simplier. Because salad everyday is ridiculous!

But I do suggest to anyone here who may be battling with fast food to read that book! Its more a collection of information then an attack on anything. You just have to get through the first section about corn... its VERY slow, but it builds you up with good information that will be hard to swallow.

I think that eating healthy is a big problem in this country. Why does it cost so much more to go to the store and buy fresh veggies that you have to come home and prepare than it does an entire fast food meal? I'd love to feed my family fresh organic foods but I can't afford it. I buy frozen since the reality is it's a lot fresher than the fresh produce in the store. I remember buying greens and veggies and them lasting the week well refrigerated. Now they only last a few days.
I haven't been very successful growing anything here either. Now with my nice organic chicken poo I'm going to put in a garden next spring and see if it survives the gophers & moles.

On a side note, I had my cottage cheese/pineapple over greens for lunch . . . then I took a corner piece of the kids grilled cheese fried in real butter.

I'm telling you, I never tasted anything so good!!
Went shopping last night and picked up Truvia. Not bad. . . I'm sipping a cup of green tea chai. It's no cup of coffee but I guess I'll just have to re train my taste buds. The first time I ever tasted coffee it was

.
Funny how that works!

I'm really having a hard time with my husband. He's been at home for the holidays and I swear he eats cake every single day. He left my protein cookies at his work so now not only have they gone off - he doesn't have them here to eat to stop picking at things!

My main problem is I'm an ex-pastry chef so I bake a lot for friends for events and I tend to have a lot of pre-made pies and cakes in the freezer... which he helps himself to. -I- can keep myself from eating them - but he's a whole 'nother story. I kinda don't wanna know if I wanna keep trying to help him.... he keeps BEGGING me to, because while HE'S supposed to be the fighter/bodybuilder... I'M the one who has the better body/motivation/food habits. I'm not as strong as him, but if you put us side by side you would more than say I was the healthier/fitter one - he lost all his muscle under cake!

So he keeps begging me to help him get back on track like I am but I have NO idea what to do? I already make his meals, I try to make him sugar-free protein snacks, I bought him a water bottle with filter and another bottle for keeping his protein drinks in... then we'll go out for sushi and he'll order deep fried chicken!!!???

I can't control him, but I can't help him either. Gah! Anybody have ideas?

Thinking of just saying to him, "Either you listen to me or you stop whinging you can't lose the weight or you stop asking me to help." Unless there's something else I can do? I can't rightly hide the pies... well... maybe I can!!! Hmmmm....

Last year I lost 30 #'s and did not have to give up beer now 15 have been returned" by miller high life whom I think of as a friend".' Now my dear wife has me back on the work out trail and I will get back to the 32" waist.
"I just know it!
