Anyone ready to ring in the new year...and lose weight/get fit?

Sounds yummy!! Everyone on here seems to eat pretty . . . .well, I can't think of another word other than "fancy".

I usually throw veggies in the micro, bake a chicken and set out the bowl of cottage cheese. No, DH did not marry a cook.

Okay, because of my lack of expertise in the kitchen I need to ask what "strap the bottom of the pan" means?

Glad you didn't throw in the towel!!! I comfort eat too...is that the same as stress eating? I think so. I just don't buy chips and snack foods to tempt me. If I buy cookies for DH and the kids it's fig bars. Not my fave so I won't pig out on those. If I buy chips I give the entire thing to DH to take and keep at work.

Anybody have a salt addiction??? I think that's why I'm not really losing right now. I LOVVVVVVVVVVVVVE salt!! These bad habits are hard to break. Especially when one has so many!

On the salt front: if you buy the gourmet "finishing salt", you can sprinkle it on things and get the salt taste with less overall salt, because it doesn't dissolve into things. It hits your tongue and satisfies the salt craving up front.

Y'know - I'm more happy about your DH noticing. Don't get hung up on the numbers on the stupid machine. Just keep up the great work and you'll get to where your clothes are fitting better - regardless of the stupid scale. Don't let it derail you. If it's down, great. If not, it's not a big deal. What's more important is how you're doing overall - are you making better choices, in general, are you getting more activity, overall? NOT the stupid numbers.

Oops... scrape!

I type faster then I think, and in the long run my grammar and spelling SUCK!

And that's not too fancy... the cheat way of doing it is cut up the sausage instead, and just throw it all into a crockpot in the morning. Simmer on low for 6-8 hours!

See, not hard at all

I think I am making better choices. I am not eating the cakes anymore that everyone keeps bringing to me!!!! If I do then I simply don;t eat a dessert later on to make up for it. I tend to just grab a coffee instead of eating something at lunch - After a good breakfast I don;t feel hungry at that time of day. I really do need my dinner though and have opted for better choices there to. I try to cook oven chips instead of deep fried or shop bought!!!! I try to eat more fish and chicken rather than stodgy pies. Though tonight we did have steak and kidney pie and chips and beans. But I didn;t have a dessert and I wont be eating anything else until tomorrow breakfast. I have stopped eating supper at night. I am going to try to drink less coffee and replace that with a glass of water.

As for the scales I am dreading it now because I guess I don;t want to step on them and have lost nothing dispite half starving myself silly all week and using the cross trainer. I think I will be a bit low about it because I need to see those numbers drop. I soooooooo want to get on the scales and them NOT say one at a time please!! I don't feel good about me right now. It was lovely to get the comment from DH about the belly though. I have major belly issues and its probably the bit I most hate about myself. I had a burst appendix when I was little and had surgery for that - in those days it was a 6 inch scar. Then later the scar tissue from that grew round my bowel and I nearly died at age 11yrs. I had to have emergency surgery to save my life which left me with a really nasty scar from my belly button down to just about as far at it could go. Then I had kids and we all know what happens to our tummys then. I had Twins and my stomach was litteraly out to my knees. I had to go on all fours and put the belly on the groud because I couldn;t sit or stand up anymore. I had the twins at just 26 week gustation - I guess I would have exploded if I had carried them longer. The result unfortunately is -

Well I will put it in the words of a little girl I was trying to encourage. She was at the time 13yrs old and very self concious - She had been born with her stomach on the outside and did not have a belly button at all just a massive thick scare from her sternum down. So I said to her she was not the only one with a nasty stomach scar and I showed her mine. The poor kid cracked up laughing and giggling and couldn;t stop herself - pointing at me and trying to compose herself she said " oh you poor thing you've got TWO BUMS!!!!!" - I didn;t actually kill her - she is now all grown up and married.

DH always tells me feel good about it - it saved your life. Of course he is right but it is hard when I am trying to "hide" my "two bums" in a swim suit or wear a nice fitting skirt!!! SO I have to get the weight off and try to flatten it all out a bit !!! So yeah its kind of really important for me to work at that bit.
I am getting there.

Oesdog, you made me laugh out loud with the "two bums" thing!! I learned long ago not to get down for what we don't have (or have that we don't want) because there is ALWAYS someone out there with more hardships than us. You're a wonderful lady that I enjoy knowing here. Obviously your DH sees your beauty and he's right, you have that scar because you survived!!! But I understand why it's important to you so I'm pulling for you!!!!
