LOCKDOWN! Amazingly I'm taking 6 of the original 7 into lockdown - all have large air pockets so I'm optimistic!

Will not being doing my hatch-cam for this one - too much going on at home.

Make sure the humidity stays up now or they can shrink wrap.It can take a 1/2 hour to 10 for the pip to zip

I am a late joiner, but I'll hatch with ya! Hatching buddies are great support. I have had a broody hen for a few weeks, and a few nights ago I found someone online who had a bunch of Black Copper Marans in the incubator. So I bought 6 eggs from him that had about a week left, all candled to be nicely developed so far! I stuck them under my hen ... Then got paranoid and brought them inside. My husband woke up to a very confused clucking hen in the bathroom; I put the whole nest box in the bathtub, with water, food and grit. She is perfectly content in there, just puzzled. And so was he! XD I am not sure exactly when they will hatch, but it should be early next week. Can't wait to see how yours do!

that's exciting! Sorry to hear of the blood ring though. It makes it feel harder when there are so few incubating.

I think it is harder.Harder to keep both temp and humidity right

Yeah the anticipation is killing me! There is a lot of movement and peeping going on, but no further progress than the one chip in the one egg. He/she is trying hard though. Tonight is going to be a toss up... I could sleep well because my temps have stayed consistent all day without adding any water or I could have a sleepless night not wanting to miss any incubator action

I think its an Ancona/Silkie mix, it may be a Polish/Silkie mix however. That little extra puff of fluff (hey that rhymed XD) on the chick's head is confusing me.

The bathtub broody is hilarious

I told my DH I don't like leaving the chickens outside when it's cold and I wanted to bring them into our enclosed porch for the winter. I didn't win that battle.

Have a wonderful thanksgiving everyone! Anyone giving their flock a special holiday treat that day? I've got a few big pumpkins that were never carved or anything so I am thinking of baking one for my chicks to feast on!
