Anyone setting 7th / 8th Sept?

One of the eggs she sent me was a silver lace cochin, silver penciled cochin cross as an extra in the 12+ I ordered. I didn't even know there were silver penciled cochins, but they look pretty neat.

Hey everyone, how are your eggs doing? Good developement? I candled mine and figured out that only 2 of the shipped eggs are developing. I emailed the seller about the condition of the eggs and she replied offering to send me more for the price of shipping. So I should be getting more eggs soon, hopefully these will actually develope. I think I will leave them all in the incuabtor, and then I'll move the first batch when they hit day 18 to a broody hen for hatching. I don't want to risk the sudden increased humidity and such on the other eggs.

well, on day 18, i went into lock down with about half of the eggs i started with. 10 outta 20 of them had blood rings or didnt even start (could've been any number of reasons). i had ordered speckled sussex from a couple of people on ebay. today, sept 12th, my first chick is hatching (almost thru). tomorrow, the 13th is the due date so fingers crossed.

Morning everyone from a sunny but very cold England.

For me is Day 6.
I have not candled as yet, will candle tonite when its dark. Hope everyone's eggs are doing well.

Out of 6 I only have one showing some signs of bacteria with sweating.

I do have a hatching spreadsheet, which shows the date of hatching, age of chicks through their first year and when feed and temperatures should be changed. Available for Excel or OpenOffice.

If you want a free copy of it, just PM me with which version you want sent. I am unsure if im allowed to post a dl link to it or i would

You just need to enter the date in UK format (sorry) so in the top left column (in black box) you type 01/11/2012 for 1st November 2012
it will then calculate the dates.

No I didnt create it nor take the credit. I just thought id make it available for BYC as no one has ever posted it.

Yay! How are everyone's eggs doing? How did the hatch go Don? I was so happy to see my 2 little survivors kicking around inside their shells, today is day 9 for me. And the replacement eggs should be coming sometime this week. On another thought,do any of you vaccinate your chicks for various diseases? When these amazing birds grow up, I plan on building a separate coop and using them for breeding, showing, and hatching eggs. Only now am I really reading up on my diseases and I found out, most of them have vaccines to prevent them if they are administered on the chick's first day of life. What do you guys think, the main ones I read about are Mareks disease, fowl pox, newcastle, Infectious bronchitis, and Avian encephalomyelitis, but there are others. I don't want to spend a fortune either, so I don't know if it's worth it.
