Anyone setting eggs May 1st?

wah! My broody got off her best. I don't know for how long but the eggs were covered in mites.we dunked them in hot water to get them off..figuring a this point it couldn't hurt. They weren't very warm. Brought them in and candled 3 were clears anyway. The other I saw movement in 1. Since they were due Monday. We threw them in the Hatcher. I hope they make it and now I know what I will be doing on my day off tomorrow beside taking a sick kid to the doctor....ugh.

Oh no!! Those darn bugs. I hope your eggs hatch. Oh, and poor broody! To sit so long to get invaded by mites... just awful! Can you dust her and see if she'll move to a clean nest area so she can get a chick?

I went down and shovel ed coop. .ccleaned it out and dusted it with sevin. But I used the whole thing and I don't have anymore...plus I just put all new shavings down so I don't have that either!! Ugh! She's already sitting on the eggs they laid today...so maybe in a day or 2 I will sneak a baby down there even though it will be a Few days old.

So I put the Willie's eggs in the Hatcher and just candled...looks like all 3 are moving! I think only 3 of my others are viable none of the shipped eggs..so out of 16 we got one. We knew that it wouldn't be a good hatch from the condition of the box...but there are 10 more that are on day 10. There are 15 fuzz bums in the broader now,so no complaints here! It's always amazing to me that I can get one to hatch!

We are in lock down as of today. As I was leaving school I stopped in to see how they were doing and it looked like one had (just barely) pipped! Can't wait to get back in tomorrow morning.

Friday will be lockdown day. Candled and found two more that had stopped developing. 35 eggs will go into lockdown for the weekend. Hopefully Monday morning will find a few hatched with more to come Tuesday and Wednesday and hopefully they finish Thursday when I take the remaining eggs home.

Sounds like everybody is getting their chicks or preparing for lockdown. Great work all. Sorry about your bad luck Molly with the mites! Ugh! Darn things. They just add to a work load don't they?!

Tonight I reset Dixie in a Corona beer flat box. It could have been Leinenkugals. But since we set eggs on cinco de mayo corona seemed fitting! Lol. Anyways... Discovered my EE Violet has been disturbing my broody by hopping up in the broody bungalow and giving Dixie 3 of her eggs to sit on! I removed violets eggs. Goodness knows Dixie has sat there long enough. I think my buckeye and BLRW eggs are too clear or lit up to be viable at this point. The OEs are pretty dark with large air pockets. So I feel maybe well have these two hatching if all goes well. I was offered chicks today from my friend who has the incubator going at the school. The eggs are from the same breeder. I think I'll ask for a buckeye and welsummer chicks...
