Anyone setting eggs May 1st?

Came into school this morning and one had hatched! Others had pipped but no progress all day. Came back to school tonight and another has hatched. Guess they just want privacy. Will be back in the morning. I was going to take the bator home for the weekend but don't dare move it with babies working their way out. Anyone ever moved an incubator on hatch day? I have a 10 minute ride home.

If they weren't pipped and hatching I would chance it but have read so much about not messing with anything after entering lockdown! I would be wayyyy to nervous.!

Good Luck!

Yes, I moved eggs that did not hatch during school hours. Like you it is a 10 minute ride home. I made sure they didn't roll and got the incubator set back up soon. I had two more hatch after getting them home but most of the eggs remained unhatched. This was on the third day so most of them were probably finished anyway. This time, I may also have unhatched eggs to take home but if I have over 20 hatch, I'll be happy.

A third had hatched before I left school tonight. If they keep going at this rate I should be able to bring them home tomorrow night - all hatched! Thanks for your input on moving them. Good to know others have done similar with classroom hatching projects.

We are all done here. First time broody that I was worried wasn't turning the eggs went 6/6 with shipped eggs! Started with 13 eggs but these 6 were the only ones that looked like they had a chance after day 10.

Morning update!

6 outta 7 hatched. The last has an external pip so I think it's just a slow poke as we are still only on day 20.

I had to assist one. It had an external pip very early yesterday but never progressed to the zip stage. I started a small zip at around 2 am to just see if maybe it was just a bit cramped and couldn't get around. It didn't appear to be malpositioned cause the pip was where I expected it to be. I then left her alone for the rest of the night cause I knew it could breath. This morning after still no progress and the beak in the exact same position I zipped her totally (all blood vessels were dried so I felt comfortable). I just took off the cap and put it back. After about 10 min it pushed out. Alls ok!

The last one to hatch is my first yellow chick. All others are black so far.

Have to go check on broody! Hope she has just as much success!!

Wish mine didn't start quite so soon. I think it is in a good shaped egg and it was in the correct end but I can't keep an eye on him/her to make sure s/he makes it out.

Hope everyone else has a great weekend watching their new babies.
