So.. update on my broody. I got home last night and she was sitting on 5 plus 2 golf balls.. so I swapped those out for a BLRW egg and a silkie egg. I got her seperated, put screen over the opening and took out a divider so she has an eating area.... she is so cute!

I did explain to the kids to leave her alone! and what that meant...so we should be good. I candle the eggs in the incubator tonight. they are on day seven!!

It is so endearing to watch these broodies so loyal to their nest. And you know they do such a good job with the eggs too...

6 Days!? i would have been a wreck worrying about them! I would let them all sit for a while at least. I had a detached air cell egg hatch last year, but it was in a tuner so it was big end up most of the time.

Good luck!

By the tracking information it almost looks like she notified the post office of the package 2 days before they were delivered to the facility. So I'm thinking they sat for 2 days at her house. IDK how that all works...All I can do is chalk it up learnin' and keep my fingers crossed too. Given that 2 looked better than the 3rd...I just gave her the 2 yesterday...so the hatch wouldn't be too staggered. This is her 3rd week of being broody and she is really intense on the nest. Like she thinks this is "Lock down". Poor girl-- How do I tell her she has 2 1/2 weeks to go yet?

I was pulling bales of straw away from my coop yesterday (bunked around for the winter) I found behind one of the bales a ball of Dixie's breast feathers. Some how during the move in the dark we must have lost that precious fluff. So I picked it up (it was still dry) and put it in her new nest with her. Just carrying it over to the broody coop my hand started to warm or hold warmth. Amazing...and I'm glad I found it to get back to her.

Bogtown, I've had a couple of people print out a shipping label when they received the egg order. The eggs weren't shipped for days after the label was printed. Yours may not have been sitting as long as they appear, hoping you get great results from them.

Sweet! Mine is all snug on her nest too!

No. No...tThe wait does not get easier. .In fact if anything it is worse as it goes along! !

Ahaha ^'agreed  i have some hatching in 13 days, and some hatching in 19 days ahah and im so bored i just them to hatch :D its so cool watching them move around inside the eggs getting excited :D

I'm just biding the time waiting on Dixie. Hold her water to her, hold her food to her, pluck her some clover. Clean her broody poo out of the nest....Tomorrow is day 4 for 4 eggs and day 3 for 2 eggs. I watched this video again today....

I'm amazed everytime... LOL.
