I had forgotten all bout putting shelf liner down to make it softer.
I need to dig mine out because I go into lockdown tomorrow night.

By the way - Congratulations on the babies!

Thanks Jeanette!
The dollar store is the way to go for shelf liner:)
And it helps a lot with clean up too!
Best wishes for a successful hatch!!

The others that hatched for me took between 12-14 hours from pip to hatch. Others have said it was just a few hours. I left mine in for about 24 hours before removing. I wanted to make sure they were fully dry. Remember they can stay in there for a couple of days without food and water. You actually want the ones in there because they call to the others to come out. After my first one hatched it seemed like all her chirping started the other ones going.

Thanx Brookhaven!!....U, BYC & others have been a God Sent!!
The 1st 18 days was no prob....just turn 4-5 x's a day....warm water at the same time.

We had our first pip yesterday morning around 8:00 a.m. That egg hatched about 6:30 this morning.. And now we have 3 more hatched... so it takes quite a while.. 24 hours from first pip but oh so worth it!!! Patience is not one of my better qualities... but it worked... we have a total of 35 eggs to hatch. So we will see what happens. I set aside 4 eggs (before lockdown) I didn't think they were going to hatch but 1 of them pipped last night around 7:15 p.m. so you never know what is going to happen!!!

Loving this!!

Good Luck.. I resorted to organizing cabinets...cleaning out closets.... weeding...now the chicks are a hatching and I feel so much better!!! Feels like I can relax a bit. Except to keep going out and checking if they are ok and if anymore are hatching!!!

I'm about to order my next set of eggs too :D

English imported Orphingtons! I can't wait. They're so big and fluffy! I just LOVE them.

I am stuck at work while my babies are hatching. BOO! They started Saturday night with 2 pipping underneath. Just heard chirping but could not see the pips. Had to open bator to turn them over. Had to help them out the following morning because they had not made any progress. They were very big and could not move to finish zipping. Yesterday afternoon another pip underneath had to turn it over. He hatched on his own but he did not absorb the yolk and the place on its belly didnot close and he started to bleed had to move him to hatch box in bottom of bator. It was walking around the bottom of bator this morning chirping away. Another piped late last night and stalled out. Had to help it out. Had one that died before it started pipping and was leaking so threw it out. Had to go to work so don't know how everything is going. Had 25 left to hatch. Hope everything is ok. Very stressful last couple of days. My next batch is due to hatch Tuesday. Have to work so will try to set up a web cam so I can watch from work. Not sure how to do that. Anyone know how to set it up please let me know. Thank you. Hope the next hatch goes smoothly.
