Tonight at 2200 will be day 20 for me. (next time I'm setting eggs earlier in the day) This morning at 0700 when I looked through the windows of my LG I saw one little star pip. The next time I checked at 1000 I had 3 hatched and at least 5 more star pips that I can see. These are all on the "farm fresh eggs" that I bought locally. Nothing yet on my sole remaining d'Uccle egg. Today is officially a wash as far as getting any work done today, I am now watching the incubator.

I have two homemade brooders.

Number one is indoors with 22 three week old chicks in it.

Number two is outdoors with 15 five week old pullets in it.

So by the time these babies come out of the incubator, I have to have either another brooder built or a second coop and run to move the five week old pullets into. I'm looking at some of the small coops on this site to use as a grow out coop. What do you all do to keep your different aged birds separate?

Congrats on the 8 chickies!

It was fun though my kids loved it. and there aint nothing wrong with being a old ugly man lol i wish my husband would get into it a little bit more with me.

Ok, so my silkie is in the brooder box.
The other 2 are still inactive.

But I'm kinda upset. Not only did only 1 hatch, I didn't get what I paid for!

12 paint hatching eggs. And I got 1 chick that is definitely not paint. Maybe blue.

VERY NICE BROODERS!!I idont have different ages yet sorry .someone else can help

My english orps arrived today. Crushed so completely and thoroughly that only 3 eggs survived [2 of which were brahams that were extra bonus eggs...not even the english orps I paid for]

Completely gutted right now, not to mention out $70.

Embarrassing, but I sold my ipod so I could have these eggs and this is what happens. I'm so frustrated. I emailed the seller and told her that I know she's not responsible, but what should I do...I did just pay you $70 for these eggs.

I also called and threatened to sue the USPS in small claims court over loss and damages. We'll see if that gets me anywhere. It looks like my box was crushed. I will probably cry if I think about it any longer today. I'm so disappointed.
