Anyone setting eggs tomorrow (13th March, EDD Apr 3rd)

I'm glad you don't hate me, cause the guy who pipped last night has pipped half-way around the egg and he did it fast!!!!!! Going to take pics!!!

poultrymom.....that's why I hatched in cartons this time. Too much soccer going on with the eggs last time.

Loopy.......don't worry. It's the calm before the storm. They stop rocking, then they start pipping.

How much "rocking" are we talking about? like totaly noticable or ever so slightly? (oh there goes my WI accent, giving options)

so my duck egg started pipping almost 11 hrs ago... how long might this take?!!

It can take HOURS for a pip to start to zip. Just depends on the mood of the chick! I've seen hatches where a few would start on day 21, most the next day, and a couple of stragglers coming out on day 23 or even day 24 in one case! But those last ones are frequently weak chicks to begin with, and they sometimes make it, sometimes not.

I have 12 chicks so far and a bunch of pips! But I had to open the incubator - my darling toddler opened up the little flaps at the back, and the humidity plummeted to 45%! Argh! So I was real quick with filling up the water pans, and it's back up to 75%. Phew! Poor little guys ... All but one chick so far is black, and the last one is a white Turken. There's one I'm a little concerned about, he just looks ... funny. I will try to get a better look at him when I take them all out of the incubator. There are a couple with fuzzy legs, though! I do love me some cochin mixes!

Good luck everyone! Don't give up if you haven't gotten a pip yet. Sometimes they're just gonna be late, and it's just not their time yet. Ask any woman who's ever had a pregnancy go on an extra week or two ... >.<

Raimnel: So far 'rocking' would be an exaggeration. Sometimes more like a shudder or shiver or tremor, and sometimes a very obvious shaking and then the biggest I've seen is fast rocking from side to side from BJG but even then its not like violent rocking. Maybe its more violent later on but thats what I've been seeing.
BJG is still rocking or me, the others are ignoring me now.

Am going to go and peer at my day 3 duck eggs instead...they're almost as animated...
