Anyone setting eggs tomorrow (13th March, EDD Apr 3rd)

christytrav-Cute Chicks!!! Congrats!!!! I also keep trying to get good pics but not having a lot of success.

Our #3 has hatched, again one of our cochins. I think we still have 6 or 7 pips as well. Two of our Blue Andalusions are really trying to start zipping. Lot's of movement at the pip site and one has knocked a big chunk of shell off.

When this 3rd cochin is all fluffy and dry I may take the 3 of them out and move them to the brooder. There are only 3 eggs left in that bator and no other activity that I see. Probably won't be until tonight though.

Oh yeah We have 5 babies now and another pip..
How long should I leave them in there? The first one born has been in there for almost 12 hours now. Three of the five are completely dried and fuzzy. Is it too risky to open it and remove them?

Christy: I would think best to leave them until you're sure there's no current pips or they've been there 2 days.

My chick is yelling at me - I can hear it from 50 feet away, even though its still in the incubator.
"Attention me, I need love!!!"
Insistent little things aren't they? Maybe it'll be happier when it has a friend to snuggle with. Hurry up and hatch pips 2 & 3...

Jeez, Im not on part of the day and another 6 or new pages!!

I woke up this morning to another pip!!!

And a bit ago, the 1st pipper was starting to zip. Then I went back in to check, and I HAVE A CHICK!! And it isnt even out of the 2 eggs I saw a pip in! My dh had gone in there a few minutes before and no chick...he said he only saw the 2 pips too.

But, I dont think they are silkies. Light colored legs and beak, not mulberry, havent seen if feathers on legs yet.

I got a pic, but it takes forever to load on the pc since it loads all 800 and some pics every single time. After I get another couple chicks out, Ill post!

As far as I can see, no other pips or chirps then the 2 I originally saw. Hope they surprise me and more chicks pop out that I didnt even know pipped.

On another exciting chickie note, TSC called me this morning to tell me they got 20 bantams in. (They were holding them so I could come pick out what I wanted before they put them out in case of silkies). So I went, and there were 6 yellow feathered leg, mulberry colored beaks and legs with 5 toes. I got all of them.
There were 2 itty, bitty, teeny tiny chicks (clean legs) that didnt look so good when they opened the box. Poor babies. I would have got them too just because they were so small. 1 gray and 1 chipmunk marked.

Speaking of chipmunk marked, I got 2 assorted pullets that have chipmunk markings on their backs. Does anyone know what they are??????

Aren't chipmunk marked ones EEs? Or Welsummers are stripey too I think. And some others.

I have taken out both vents. I can't see the hygrometer because teh chick flipped it upside down. Should I risk reaching in to turn it over? Or is it less important because the humidity goes up when there are chicks in there breathing and drying off

The BJG who was rocking yesterday is now rocking violently again, but no pip yet.
No progress on the other 2 pips yet.

There's been lots of crashing and banging going on in there as the chick runs around. Its stopped yelling now though. Maybe its napping.
Want another to hurry up so its not lonely.

I had some EE that looked chipmunkish

How do I know theres enough air flow? This is our home made bator I do have like 4 holes open there about 1/2 in. each I would guess that would be enough
