lol! yea, i don't think i've ever worked this hard as my chickens make me work - i guess the eggs aren't really free

i decided to put a fan in this time around because my temp during my first hatch kept spiking to 102...it'd be at 99 or 100 degrees and then without my knowing it, I'd take a look and the temp would be at 102 - so i read about putting a fan in and my husband got our old pc's fan and installed it - ok, well he stood it angled in the corner - and it's actually worked very well to keep my temp stable...its just my humidity that is acting all wacky right now.

I just put in 7 royal palm turkey eggs. This is my third attempt in a LG still air. I discovered that I had a bad thermometer with my previous attempts. I bought a digital one with a humidity thingie on it. I have the temp and humidity spot on now, I hope! I have got to have better luck this time, right?

My last two attempts were 0/24 and 0/36 from eggs from my own chickens. I checked, only a few started to develop. All that started to develop died probably day 10ish

I'm in. Just set 41 mutt eggs at 8pm. This is my 7th hatch in a Genesis 1588. I'm a little picky about numbers, so I just found a hatching sheet that I used for the last hatch. Here are the headers in case anybody else wants to use it. I like it because it lets me go back and look at my numbers to see what I can do differently.

Top of page: Hen__ Cock____, date and time set___, candled date & results, candled date & results, remove turner on, should hatch on, hatch started on, hatch ended on____

Results A. Number of eggs set B.number not fertile C. died blood ring D. full term didn't pip E. pipped failed to hatch F. culled G. total lost
H. Total hatched (Line A minus line G) I. percent fertiles hatched (Line H divided by [line A-line B] )

I also draw a little diagram with the numbers 1-however many I am hatching. Not fertile gets an X over the number, fertile gets circled, blood ring gets scribbled out, hatched gets a red circle, non hatched gets a red x. My hope is that if there are any bad spots the bator, I can catch it this way and set my eggs accordingly. And oh yea, did I tell you I was picky with numbers? :O

Looking back using the fertile eggs that made it to lockdown only, (since I just started using this sheet for %'s on the last hatch) I've hatched 10/15, 32/34, 26/33, 13/18, 15/21, and 11/21. My best hatches have been when I turn it on, add water, and candle once then again at lockdown. My worst hatches have been when I obsessed over everything. Going to try to get it right this time!!

ETA:If you use the word a*n*a*l it automatically switches to picky. How cool is that??!!

that is really cool!!! I'm trying to do better this time since i only hatched 3 out of the 24 eggs i set my first hatch - got my bator wrapped in towels to keep the temp up and stable since it's still a bit cold here in Missouri..

I set about a dozen turkey eggs, about 8 EE's, about a dozen serama, a few chukkar partridge, and about 15 guinea eggs. All came from my own birds and I'm using a Sportmans. My first hatch for this year. I will have a few different due dates with my mix.
I'm still waiting on the emu's to lay.

Just had a great hatch (17 out of 22), cleaned out the bator (brinsea octagon 20 Eco...love this thing), and set 9 true bantam araucana eggs, and 9 bantam faverolles silikie cross eggs. Dying to see how many araucanas make it to hatch and what the cross chicks look like lol
