Anyone Setting Eggs Tonight 3/31/2011 - Come join me if you like!

Just candled tonight. 8 out of 9 bantam Araucana, and couldn't really tell with the faverolle silkie cross eggs. 2 are definite, but the other 7 were either possibles, or nothing showing at all. Got a decent pic of one of the Araucana eggs:

Tonight is three days for these. I usually candle 3 days, 9 days, and lockdown...sometimes more depending on how much of an itch I have to see their development lol

I am filled with egg envy. Im going on 4 days and I have nothing! I candled tonight and I have no veins. No signs of life. What a bummer! I am going to wait a few more days and candle and again. The person who sold me the eggs so there is absolutely no chance theses are not fertle.....I disagree.

Definitely don't give up hope yet. Sometimes the beginning development is harder to see. In a couple days you'll definitely see veining in the egg if they are fertile. If not, give some eBay eggs a shot. Lately I've had really good luck with eBay eggs, 10/10 blue andalusians and 6/12 buff laced polish.

I think to rule out any user incubator error, I am going to buy some fertile eggs from someone else con craigslist who is local. They are mutts and are only $5.00 a dozen so maybe I could buy a couple dozen and see how they hatch. I should have done this first before investing so much money in hatching eggs not really knowing the breeder. Then I am only out $5-$10 versus $42. Then if they hatch I know it really wasn my fault. WOuldnt mind a few muts but there are specific breeds I am looking for. I would love to have some white silkies. I have about 6 Buff Silkie chicks right now. I wanted white ones but the hatchery was all sold out for months.​

I just candled my shipped eggs and mine do not look like other people's 3 day old fertilized eggs - from what I have read you should start seeing some veining on day 3 - I know some will say that is still too early - but so far, if you google 3 day old candled eggs, you will get hits of pics and those pics sure don't look like mine. My eggs just have a dark blob at the top and the blob moves to which ever opposite end I tilt the egg...that's just the ameracauna eggs, which comprise the majority of my eggs, because I was only sent 5 maran eggs....and i'm going to be patient and wait until day 10 before tossing...but I will be highly disappointed if not a single egg is viable...My Ameracauna eggs are clear as a bell - so why can't I see any veining or signs of life...any signs of life like in the 3 day candled egg pic's I've seen on here and in googling??

I could see a few not being fertile = but ALL of them?!? what are the chances?????

Correction...i am on day 4 today

So I'm with you on the bummed part right now....and I wasn't even going to candle until day 14 but

Mine were day 4 before I saw anything petunias212....don't give up hope...I was feeling the exact same way, but then to my surprise, I moved the flashlight around a little and found some veins....Have you tried candling from the top down or from the side?

I just corrected myself, I am officially on day 4 - i won't toss any out until day 10 but from my view point and those clear looking eggs, I'm thinking I should see some veining...yes, I candled from the side, top and bottom - they are very clear...and none of the Ameracauna's are porous or anything like that...just very clear...
