Anyone sick of winter?

Whew! The duckies survived last night’s frigid cold just fine! I had somewhat of a sleepless night.

I know our friends in the north have it worse than here, so I hope everyone got through the cold okay.

There were flecks of ice crystals inside the house on the walls. Looks like I’m going to beg hubs to help me install more vents on the outside upper walls.

Will be almost 50 by next weekend!

Everyone is still trucking along, although my white Muscovy hen made a poor life decision this morning when she went swimming in her water bowl when it was roughly -13 degrees Fahrenheit. She has regrets. I think that tomorrow is at least going to be 30 degrees, maybe even above freezing, so everyone will be able to thaw a bit. I’m glad your crew is hanging in there as well. Just a few more weeks of this!

No spring here. We are still crunching through our snow. Last week we got 16” and this week another 5” with ice on top. The past two days it was -10* so everyone had to stay in the barns. Today it’s going to be 32*! Everyone gets to go out! The ducks will be so happy! I had to lock up my one drake because he causes trouble in the barn when they are in too long. I still have too many. He’s a Muscovy and his name is Count Dracula..his coloring makes him look just like that! But he’s very nice to people. My one poor Muscovy, Pearl, wouldn’t come in for 4 days last week. We tried everything but she went wayyyy under our shed. We made sure she had lots of food and water, but the water always froze. She was whooped the day we caught her and ready for the rest in the barn. She’s usually so mild mannered. Hmmm, just glad she finally got some rest.

We've run out of places to pile snow here in the upper peninsula of Michigan! The super cold weather has just hit us. Night before last it was -30 with windchill. My feathered kids are getting shack happy!:lau I just keep telling myself, spring's coming...spring's coming!! This was a surprisingly good prediction. I shouldn't be surprised, it's science after all, but the climate scientists hit the nail on the head this year.

Climate scientists had nothing to do with that. That's weather forecasting, ie, meteorology. Climate scientists deal with long term trends, like 30 years and beyond. For example. Ohio's climate is sometimes severe winters, sometimes not. That's the long-term trend, ie, climate.
