I am curious, since my 5 weekers are weighing 3 pounds-just how much less is dressed weight then live weight for these birds on average? I dont want to let them get too big, and I have been telling people to expect a dressed weight of around 4 pounds, which is what I had read. If they continue growing at this rate though, it would seem they might be significantly more though, so can someone give me an estimate? I may decide to process some of the biggest ones a bit earlier-unless I have people lining up to pay $2o + for a chicken...
