I am growing a new variety of cabbage - it has a pointed head and now the cabbage worms are shredding them!!

I read that people use flour and baking soda to kill them. Has anyone tried this, if so what propotions and would the flour not get stuck in the head if it gets wet?

I've used flour early in the morning while the dew is still on the leafs. It turns gummy and kills the worms. Never tried mixing with baking soda. Good luck

Do you re-apply every morning?

Do you rinse the old flour out?

Apparently the reason for mixing it with the baking soda is the worms will eat it and pop!

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.
I apply as needed. You can over apply. The flour will turn to snotty stuff with the morning dew. You can hose off for looks. It just seens to trap the bugs and they die.

You can also use water ,cayenne pepper and dawn dish detergent.I forgot the proportions but my friend used it to deter deer but the bugs didn't like it either.

I doubt it improves the flavor much. [STDMMDI
