Anyone up for a Hatchalong?

Pics
I have mine in the hovabator 1588
Day 1
Egg: A 620g
B 620g
C 630g
D 645g

Day 7 A=605
B=610
C=615
D=630

What do you guys think? Is it normal weight loss?

Well you have a 2.4%, 1.6%, 2.4%, and 2.3% so it looks ok to me. To get to where you want to be by hatch date you would want them losing 2.0% to 2.3% per week so you are looking pretty good. Even my 2 duds lost weight until the second to the last week so I don't think weight loss equals chick inside necessarily but it means your humidity is ok.

Thanks for the updates. I having a relaxed time watching you guys sweat it out now! And I am reporting it all to the baby emus in my office.

Oops, they took a nap.

....and sweating it out is something I am doing. The pics and videos of your babies are so full of striped cuteness that it practically puts me into overload and makes me want some all that much more. I'm up to 7 eggs now...Got 2 more on Sunday. I hope there comes a day when hatching emu eggs is "old hat", like it is with my chickens. It's still cool as anything, but I no longer sweat it out and check the date over n over in anticipation for their hatch.

Thank you :) I love your babies, they are so adorable :)
How long will you keep them in the pen? How is their appetite?

I will keep them in my office int the pen until I can't take it any longer! I don't have a real good option for outdoors yet an with the weather they are much better in here. I will probably transition them into the garage before outside.

They are eating just fine. I wish the Ratite Starter would come in though. It seems like the Flock Raiser is giving them the squirts. They love cut up greens right out of my hand. They literally go nuts for it. I will have hubby videotape that. It looks like they have lost their minds. They even snatch what is hanging out of one another's mouths. My little Elvis is so very tiny. He seems as healthy as a horse otherwise, just doesn't seem to be growing as fast as the girls. He is short and squatty. Twice I found him standing in the water bowl today! They are just too cute and silly.

Good luck everyone.

I think I found a breeder to get eggs from but they haven't messaged me back yet so as a backup I'm still looking for hopefully 9 emu eggs to put in my bator! I have a question for you all, what kind of luck are you having with shipped eggs? I was only looking for eggs that I could personally pick up (within 6 hours from me) because I heard the larger the eggs, the more damage occurs during shipping & from the luck I've had lately I'm pretty worried. With my tax return I'm looking for 9 eggs, no expense spared in getting them safely, whether gas to pick them up or postage for express mail.

So what are your honest opinions on shipped eggs hatching? I'd just hate to spend all that money for 9 eggs plus shipping (probably express instead of priority) for all of them to be scrambled.

Does anyone know of any breeders within 6 hours from Hurricane WV or of a shopper with great packaging?

I really hope to join your hatch a long soon! Oh I have a Reptipro 5000 cabinet incubator (=

I purchased my eggs from Kalaya Emu estates and they were beautifully packaged.

So far my other four eggs seem to be doing just fine. I was unable to weigh them so I have no idea about the weight loss. In a few more days they may start to move inside the eggs and I will be able to tell then.

I can't wait to see what kind of a hatch rate ya'll are going to get from the shipped eggs. If I hadn't accidentally found a breeder close to me, I was going to buy off of EBay. My track record with shipped chicken eggs is abysmal so I was quite hesitant to jump in on the shipped emu eggs.

last 2 eggs got here this morning.. they weighed in at 625 grams and 612 grams. Since the Reptipro and LG are full they went into one of my Brinseas

I weighed the second set of eggs this morning:
B-1
On Day 1: 534 grams
On January 18, (day 7) 522 grams (12 g lost or 2.25%)
On January 25, (day 14) 509 (13 g lost 2.49%)

B-2
On Day 1: 539 grams
On January 18, (day 7) 525 (14 g lost or 2.6%)
On January 25, (day 14) 512 (13 g lost 2.48%)
