Yea there's a good chance all 4 eggs werent layed on the same day & the oozy egg was just the oldest one. They might of only had one or 2 breeding pairs & if so it'd take a while to get 4 eggs so it'd be very likely 2-3 of the eggs were pretty fresh. The breeder I got my eggs from had 3 breeding pairs & only got 5 eggs in 7 days so 2 of my eggs were 7 days old, then if your source only hady 1-2 pairs then an egg or 2 could've been quite older than 7 days so there's definitely hope!

day 42 are your oldest eggs right? Wow they're getting close & already 7 wigglers? You still have several eggs not old enough to wiggle don't you? Oooh I'm so happy for you! My slow pokes are on day 18

I have one egg that I just put in the bator on Valentines day.. so it's only been in there a week.. it's a local egg.. so hopefully it ends up being a wiggler too.. plus there are 2 other eggs (Elberta, Alabama) that are only on day 27.

set January 21st.. 3 out of 4 are wiggling .. they are on day 31.. so the 4th one might still wiggle... too soon to say for sure

set January 11th.. 0 out of 2 wiggling.. I think these two probably got scrambled in transit

set January 13th .. 1 out of 1 is wiggling
set January 20th .. 1 out of 1 is wiggling

set January 20th .. so far 0 out of 2 are wiggling.. they are on day 32.. so they might start wiggling within the next couple of days.. if not they may have gotten scrambled as well

I got two wigglers here too, both on day 33. I spotted one of them moving inside the incubator two days ago, maybe it had an itch to scratch but now they'll both wiggle when I whistle to em.

lol... it's funny how they wiggle stronger and more often as they get further along in the incubation.. I noticed that with mine so far... guess as they grow and get stronger they have a lot more movement to their eggs

incubation temperature may play a part in it.. however I think they all may have started on day 31.. I just didn't catch them all wiggling that early.. on day 31 the wiggle is so slight that it's easy to miss if you glance away

I'm not giving up on the non wigglers until they either start stinking or until a few days past their planned hatch date

they do sleep alot.. which is one reason I tend to check them once a day.. i have noticed that as time goes by they wiggle stronger and it's a lot easier to catch it when you are turning them or have them out for their weigh in

the first two eggs are suspected to be bad..no wiggling from either one.. so those babies are either sleepers or the eggs were scrambled in transit
There is the possibility that they were never fertile to begin with (male shooting blanks) however i would rather put the blame onto the postal service since I have seen how they can scramble a perfectly good egg.
For the tap testing they both have a dull thud sound.. neither smell rotten

B-1 (from Auburn, California)

Too bad the dud eggs lose weight too, wouldn't it be nice if the bad eggs like GAINED weight...or lost a noticeably less amount than the good ones? Emu eggs are difficult for impatient people like myself lol...what is the earliest test you can perform? If I would've known about the Lean method I would've done it once I first got them to see if they stayed level or what, so if anyone gets more eggs do me a favor a Lean test it so we'll know what an undeveloped egg does compared to one farther along...please I'm curious if it really works because I've only heard of it on one old thread here on BYC, 4 of mine tilt noticeably toward the pointy end while 1 I can't tell, it's one of those eggs that are equally pointy on both ends. For all I know most eggs tilt towards the pointy end regardless of their state...hmm maybe I can try a store bought chicken egg?

Does anyone have a stethoscope? I also heard of using those cheap sound amplifier devices from department stores, they look like hearing aides & are used for hunting or spying lol. I think I might try one of those...someone said they work better since they actually amplify sounds while stethoscopes just transmit sound...yea I'm beyond impatient...or excited...well both...

It would be interesting to see if the duds loose water at a higher or lower rate compared to good eggs.

One of my eggs is leaning, but the other is not. I'd say it has more to do with the shape of the egg than anything, one of them is fat and leans toward the pointy end and the other is long and sits fairly level.
However both definitely have live chicks in them because they both wiggle quite a lot, they were both very busy in there while I took this picture:

it makes sense that eggs will tilt as incubation goes on since the air cell end will become lighter as the air cell gets larger... however like Raptor.. I think it depends a lot on the overall shape of the egg.. which is why I don't think the tilt method is all that reliable

I have used a stethoscope.. I have one that has interchangeable bells and diaphragms.. I have heard heartbeats with the infant/fetal ends.. though they are VERY faint and you can't hear the heart beat each and every time.. I think the few times I have heard it it was just because the chick was oriented in the correct position for the stethoscope placement. I've also tried the adult diaphragm and couldn't hear a darn thing..
I think the stethoscope may be more useful once the chick has breached the membrane and starts talking back to you.. lol

I've never seen the sound amplifiers at out local walmart.. so I haven't bothered to look into getting one
