Anyone use a camera and watch chickens on TV or computer? How?

If you don't need to watch a streaming feed, most of us use a game cam to watch for predators, because they are inexpensive as far as security cameras with night vision cost. You could also set it up in view of the nest box to watch the layers.

I have a camera in my coop so I can watch whats going on. It endlessly entertaining. I bought the camera from Harbor Freight. It comes with a long cord and uses the a/v jacks on the back of my tv. It was only $29 too, with color and night vision. It was so easy to set up I thought I was missing something.

I have the B&W camera from Harbor Freight. Night vision is good for about 6 or 7 feet so put it in the coop close to the roosting poles. You can even buy 100 foot phone cords to extend the wires if the distance to your house is farther than the supplied cord. Just plug the phone cord into the camera, plug the other end into a female/female phone plug, plug the camera wire into the other end and plug the RCA plugs into a VCR, DVR or TV.

These systems are worth *ONLY* if you planning on watching the house too.

chkn -

The camera's are Sony. I would have to look up the system exactly. It has some long drawn out number system. I literally just got a new computer up and running today. I used to have everything so that we can monitor it online from wherever - but that part is currently disconnected. When I get it back up and running (when I get a couple hours - ha! like that is going to happen this year!) I will post you some links to it.

I have very much decided that I HATE this keyboard. I have spent more time correcting mistypes because the keys STINK!

I have two cameras setup in my coop. One upstairs and one down stairs. They work great! In fact, I even made a website http://www.watchmychickens.com/ so I could watch them from anywhere, on my phone, etc..

The cameras I used can be found on Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01L9VCC18/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

They have a viewing angle over 90 degrees so you can put them in a corner and see everything. They also have night vision so you could spot rats or other pests while the chickens sleep.

I may make a post about how to set everything up if anyone is interested.
