Anyone use a dehydrator to dry fruits/veggies and other foods?

I just filled all nine trays with apples, pears and bananas. Those are my granddaughters' favorites. I've got beef marinating in the refrigerator. Once the fruit is done, I'll do the beef jerky. Looking forward to how that will taste.

If you slice zucchini thin and sprinkle it with salt or herbs, it makes a wonderful chip. They are better fresh dried than stored, but they sure make a nice low calorie substitute for potato chips.

I dry fruit, mushrooms, jerky. You can dry herbs and onions. You can dry diced veggies to make dry soup mix.

Fruit dried at home is a lot drier and harder than commercial dried fruit. They are adding something to that fruit to leave it plump and soft. If you left home made fruit that wet, it would mold.

@oregon blues - my store-bought sultanas list vegetable oil as an ingredient, so I'm guessing that's how they make them so plump and juicy.
