anyone use a dog house?

I use dog houses in my duck pens. They're easy to clean out or move if I need to.

I have been using a doghouse. Here are some photos.

We are building a new coop because of the insulation factor for the winter. I'm 1/2 way up the Hudson in NY, so probably a little warmer than you.

You might consider hay bales around the coop to keep them warm for the winter. Some people have mentioned this.

This first one is the overall view - we added the nesting boxes on the side and the vents up on top...in the back too.
The door is also the ramp.

This one shows inside to the right where the roost is.

This one is the nesting boxes on the inside.

And this one shows the draw we created w/ the netting above to make cleaning the poop a little easier.

Not perfect, but it was our first and easiest try.
A couple of lessons learned. We needed to make the nesting boxes higher up, the roosting area needs to be wider, and there's no ability to insulate unless we added to the outside.

We're working on a new one and I'll post photos soon. Hope this helps.
