Anyone use a pet heater pad for brooding chicks?

A friend had a rabbit hutch, gave it to me for our Quail and a little hater pad (this one: http://www.bestpetsuppliesguide.com/k-h-heated-resting-mat-for-small-pets/ ) in it. I took it out - Quail do not need it, and am currently trying it out on my 1 week old chicks. They are sleeping on it and seem to like it. Supposed to heat to 100* and no dangerous bulbs.

i did, worked fine. made a little shelter for them to go under and set on the pad.

The chicks are in the house in their brooder. Last night, no heat light, and they SLEPT! Quietly! Beautiful thing. Love them but the peeping all night was driving me crazy.

I use a heater I built that they can snuggle up to. I dont like heat lights.

Sold out of chicks at the moment but you can see the heater pipe glow turning on an off.

That's a great idea! Safer than those big bulbs. I'm going to try it-I have everything on hand too.
