Anyone use a shop vac with a pump to clean out the duck pond?

Do they last long? Is the pump good and sturdy for use?
I read that if I want to get a pump for the pool, that I need a good pump, not a cheap one. The cheap ones break.
I like the shop vac idea because I could clean out the bottom much better, but maybe I just need shop vac and a good pump. Ideas? Thanks.

I used a Sump Pump when a had the concrete pond up and running. It worked great and was defiantly worth the money. I've tried pond pumps in the past but they couldn't handle the mess the ducks made.

Well I think that this shop vac would take out the water and shoot through a hose to the garden. It has a pump in it. It would allow me to put my pond totally in the ground and not pick it up for cleaning, but rather add water to the muck in the bottom, clean out and shoot it to my garden..But I don't know if it is as sturdy as a good pond pump.
