My 7 year old daughter just bought herself the Long Loom Series of the Knifty Knitter Looms with her saved Birthday money. Late last year I started teaching her to knit on regular needles and she was doing okay but lacks some of the coordination needed still for holding two needles and yarn, I had to help her more often than not and she would get so frustrated.
So I went to buy some yarn yesterday for making more dishcloths and she saw the looms and really wanted to try it out. We went with the long looms because her main interest is scarves and blankets.
She picked out some pretty funky multi colored yarn for her first scarf and we took them home.
I spent about 5 minutes teaching her how to use the loom after I learned myself from the instructions and a website in about the same amount of time, it's so easy!
She now has about 14" of her scarf done and is so proud of herself
Trying to find other patterns online doesn't seem to be so easy. The Provo website (the company that makes Knifty Knitter) has some but they aren't great.
I figured I would ask here if anyone else uses these looms and where you get your patterns?
I think I'm going to buy her the round loom set this weekend when I go back to the craft store.
