I have a large area that is currently unused, but has wire fence for horses attached to T posts. It'd be a great area for ranging my Bresse as they come to age, and I have plenty of room to move them to different areas as they use up the ground. Using chicken wire would be a huge cost, and I'd seen that people have used the plastic deer netting for this kind of thing before. And it's cheap, 7' x 100' for $25 on amazon. Predation isn't a huge concern here. thoughts?

Tears easily (not at first—it's like pantyhose. Really strong until it snags on something) and sags a lot. I use it over my berry bushes and would definitely recommend something stiffer unless you want to build a frame for it.

Also, I believe it was cheaper at Lowes.

Have it around the outside of the run. Use it to keep birds out. Won’t keep anything serious out. I would pull it away from the bottom a little if chickens can stick heads through fence as I have had them snag combs on it and bleed.

I use it over top of the run and find it very good! I'm impressed with its strength. I bought that 7' X 100' roll. I have it stretched across a 25' span, and for 4 years it has endured all kinds of weather, ice, snow, small branches falling on it...even my cat walking on it. It sags but bounces right back.
And no predator has ever breached it (and we live in a rural area surrounded by woods).

Good to know! btw black cats are my favorite. They're the best! great pic

Some deer netting isn't good due to the quality. I went to Lowe's and bought several rolls that were 100 FT. They were $50 a piece. It can hold up to 200 lbs supposedly and has held back a 150 Mastiff that jumped on it without tearing. My setup is 1500 SQ FT. It has held up to my 4 dogs as well!

Pic is just an idea of what we did, it looks better now since we've done a lot of work this week, but I'm not home. It's 7 feet tall. I absolutely love the freedom it's given my chickens!

looks great! the lights are good idea

I am using deer netting over my newly expanded chicken run to keep out songbirds and hopefully predatory birds. I don't have a good pic of the netting, but if you click on Pic and zoom in towards the top. You can see it. 20190424_113449.jpg .
I wouldn't use it a fence to keep a predator out as it could easily go under, unless fortified. GC
