My flock is small and varied. Daisy is a two year old GLW and a quiet gem of a girl. She lays regularly and doesn't cause a fuss. I have Alberta, BO, who is now 3 yrs old and quite bossy. If she goes broody and I lock her out of the nests, she sits on the roost all day and pouts. She was one of my best layers last year. this year has been difficult for her- broody, moult, broody. Could it be chicken menopause? I have five new chickens this year and they are now 8 months old - no eggs yet: Missy, my English Spangled Orpington, and Alice, my Welsummer are friends and hang out together along with the other Spangled Orpington, Maureen. I give the girls watermelon in the summer and boy, do they go into a frenzy eating that. They free range through the back yard and get into the garden- I had to replant twice then gave up. Missy is a beautiful girl I love her black and white color. Maureen is mostly black and shines green in the sun. I have a Lavender Orpington, but is too light a grey to really shine lavender in the shade. Her name is Pearl. My special girl is Flora, the Splash Marans. she is quite friendly and loves to come for a chat- see avatar.
