Anyone Who Needs A Hug

Pics
From what i read so far do not use lidocaine on chickens or ducks. Tylan injectable antibiotics, blucoat spray and antibiotic ointment after you clean the affected areas. Keep the bird warm and quiet. Electrolytes and vitamins might help too. These birds can survive quite a lot. Give him a chance to recover.

Hugs to you and GusGus, Mama, more hugs and a prayer that he survives the surgery and heals back to good as new.:hugs:fl:hugs

And Hugs to you Capricorn Farm. :hugsTry not to worry. Stress can make your blood sugars go up, so can infection. Especially if you are pre diabetes.

X2 with what Mama said. Watch your serving portions. Eat lots of green things, bright colored things like salads, squash, sweet potatoes instead of white potatoes, (watch the portion size) Fresh berries, fruit. Like Mama said, watch the carbs. Avoid high fructose like it is poison. Watch for it in processed foods, infact, avoid processed foods whenever you can. Don't worry about it until you have to and if you are diabetic, you can deal with it. You are a strong lady. Even if you find out that you are diabetic, it can be a wake up call to exercise, watch your diet and loose weight. Many times that means not having to take medication or insulin for the condition.

Can ducks take baby aspirin like chickens do? I wouldn't try it as long as there is any chance of excessive bleeding but if it works for pain control after Mama patches him back up.....

Ok, just a little bit stressful and a bit smaller than a newborn. Gus Gus is in recovery. I have ivy fluids going. I hope he makes it. I never ever want to do that again

What did you have to do? Sorry i was not much help. Shortly after i went to lay down and did not wake up until after supper, well after dark. When i woke up i could not find my glasses! But the problem is that i need my glasses to see my glasses!:lau
Any way, while i was frantically searching for my glasses, i found my 2 missing cell phones! Hopefully i can revive them, they have some great pictures of my chickens, other livestock and ceramic projects! :celebrate:love
Mama, major hugs! I never had to start an IV line on a duck. I did have to give fluids to one of the dogs once. Please keep us posted on Gus Gus!:hugs

He's hanging on! I put plates and screws in both legs and feet got pins. I looked up the bill and bones of the face. Got that all put back together. Now it's up to God. But I can lay down tonight knowing I did everything I possibly could.
Sounds like a bionic duck! Birds are tough, he should make it!:fl

Mama, so scared i think i am sliding into being diabetic. My labs show i am insulin resistant. I am starting to get slight numbness and tingling in my hands and feet. I thought neuropathy took a long time to develop. I gave up soda a while back and drink mostly water, but have green tea usually once a day. So much sugar in everything! I am checking labels more and anything with sugar as #1 ingredient i put back. It is daunting because its not just sugar but carbs that need cutting back. Scary.
Also you have been sick with an infection, please have the test redone after your infection has passed. Did they tell you your A1C?
