Okay, she is completely free from the shell, just needed to scoot a couple more times and off it came! There is a little dried blood around where the yolk absorbed, does that happen sometimes? And her left eye appears to be swollen. I thought it might be, but couldn't tell until I saw the other. Do I need to do anything for this, or just watch? When I was giving her the once over, I snapped a quick pic...

Way to go Pigeon!!!!! It was so nice to wake up this morning and read that she has hatched...and the photo too...she is just gorgeous...vell worth the wait Im sure.
As far as the eye goes- I havent ever had one hatch with "swollen" eyes- but often they do look that way until they fluff up- I had a drake hatch last year who had such big eyes he was named Goggleduck.


I have one egg that looks to be unzipping this morning...One more that looks to be internally pipped...BUt the others are only just wobbling still.

Congratulations duckyfromoz! How exciting.. Really looking forward to pics of you little guys/girls!

I'm not too worried about the eye, honestly, it looks like a slight deformity more than anything else, because the lids aren't swollen, just that eye protrudes more than the other. Sometimes things like that take care of themselves, or she may just have her own look going on.

Just love her! She is in a brooder right now. When she is really up and going, we'll introduce her to her adoptive siblings. It's so sweet, she peeps for us.......So cute! I wish I didn't have so many other things to do, I could just watch her all day. LOL.

So mine are due today... And with only one egg with any serious action happening...I thought I had better investigate. I took the egg that I havent seen wobble for over 12 hours and carefuly hand drilled a small hole in to the airsac. ITs backwards- and very dry...No wonder these guys were being slow.

I put a damp cloth over the others and just have to hope for the best I suppose. Im not really sure if the one I opened is actually still alive..I thought I saw a tiny movement..But I think it was more likely just a little reflection of the water I misted on it. I have promised myself not to help any more hatch...And I guess I may have left things too late to intervene with any of these... I know the two that already pipped will be ok - So at least I will have them. So disapointing after the last lot.

OH, I'm sorry. I hope they will come around for you. Maybe the others are just late bloomers, and will come along...Keep us posted.

I was worried before about the air cell but I candled again and looked the whole way around and it is bigger as

Good Luck with your quail kid 1..especially since you were the one who started this hatching thread...Hope all goes well for you...and you soon will have some news of wobbling and pipping and hatching eggs too.


I HAVE 1 HATCHED!!!!!!!!!

It still just got a small thread attaching it to the egg and its resting up in the incubator now. Photo just as soon as its fluffed up a bit..I better go get a brooder tub organise!!

I have been on here for an hour or so now...so time to go check on that little baby.... And the eggs..... I am so happy - and glad I slept in late this morning..I think it will be a long night for me tonight!!!
