Anyone work at home?

Yeah, I looked at it too. With each job being 7-20 bucks you'd have to stack them up in a day trip to actually make anything. With gas the way it is it's cheaper to just stay home!

when I told my MIL about my new project(online stuff. Not quite ready to go) She looked at me and said "In this economy no one is going to be buying stuff like that"

I'm pretty sure fudge is a necessity of life...

I do a lot of work from home as a software engineer, but that requires either a lot of schooling or a lot of independent study - tougher to break in to the field if you are self taught since getting that first reference is logistically hard.

I found that a lot of companies also want you to work in the office until you prove yourself before working from home. I've been working for this company for 10 years and this is the first year that working from home was seen as a viable option.

My current position can be done remotely but my manager likes to "see" us in our cubicles.

My husbands job is the same. But his boss is just an ... well you know. There are only 4 people in dh's dept. Including him and the "boss" But with their turnover rate and one of the people that is still, some how there.

I kinda see his point. But the fact that it would save the company SO MUCH $$$ to let people work from home.. it just boggles my mind. They dont do anything to retain the good employees, or get rid of the ones that arent. And I know they are paying A LOT of money to rent the space they are in. Add the electric, heat/cooling costs. Yup. Fools.

I think fudge is a need as well. I look forward to cooler weather. Means more time in the kitchen:)

My husband and I both worked for Alpine Access (a Denver based company) that had tons of clients. We took phone orders for their clients. Alpine trained us over the phone and we could set our own hours which was really nice. Some of their clients are 1-800-Flowers, JC Penneys, Home Depot among many, many others.

We had to have a good computer and a special headphone set, other than that there were no out of pocket fees/money for us. I do believe they require a background check now which costs $35. They are a very reputable company and need lots of extra help around the major holidays for some of their clients. (like 1-800-Flowers) You can become a year round employee or just do the major holidays for the extra income.

My job was like this for the longest time. But once we pulled people into the project that were located in NJ (our office is in PA) and also from Bangalore, it was hard for them to make the argument that remote working was sub-par since everyone was remote to 2/3s of the team anyway!

I don't think I could survive being a full time working parent of 2 young kids if I wasn't able to work from home and see them in the mornings.
