I have to think really, really hard to remember to spell it theater. One time, I kept puzzling over why spell check was marking theatre wrong until I realized it wasn't spelled the american way...

All the software here is American (word, office etc..) so it always autocorrects you. Then you hand your work in, and the teacher tells you off for writing it the American way.
